Cadillac Eldorado Exhaust Fix and Fuel Filter
Well, this did it! She's running awsome right now. Still stumbles every once in a while, but my injectors are most likely dirty, from all that dirty fuel running through them. Tomorrow, I'm going to put new plugs and wires into her, and run some injector cleaner throught the tank. Then Ken and I are driving to Tacoma to check out a parts car for him. So stay tuned...

132957 / 1971 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/75goolt With only 17,396 original miles, it mixes one of the biggest and smoothest V8s GM ever produced with a vibrant coat of 100% original paint and a spacious, well-preserved interior. Not devoid of all character like so many fresh frame-off restorations, this Cadillac's finish carries just the right amount of wear under a lovely patina and soft shine that simply cannot be duplicated with today's perfected paint processes. Hitting the color sheet somewhere between teal and true blue, the bright hue looks completely appropriate and has a good amount of shine which literally glows in the sun without displaying that familiar 'behind glass' shell of most modern urethanes. Under that single stage paint, the car certainly appears to wear all original OEM sheetmetal, with no signs of botched repairs or accident damage in the past. And I can't say for certain, but those massive rear quarters with their razor-sharp edges have to be some of the biggest single stampings ever installed on an automobile. Since you're looking at those rear quarters, you've probably noticed the car's slightly weathered trunk. No worries, if you're one of those discerning owners who prefers a clean look to an original look, the experts at our RK Motors Charlotte service center will be happy to refinish it in basecoat/clearcoat. But bear in mind a car is only original once, and that's why we recommend keeping its original, surviving paint intact. Cadillac didn't skimp on horsepower in the 1970s, either. This car's 472 cubic inch monster, which was the largest V8 produced by GM to date, generates a smooth and highly respectable 375 horsepower. While there were engines in the GM Powertrain stable that may have generated more power, this one was designed to idle almost silently, pull the heavy car along with the thrust of an electric motor and create merely a whisper from the tailpipe. Judging by the appearance of this big engine bay, the car has been on a regular maintenance schedule and benefitted from periodic full-scale detailing as well. And many of its original ancillary items are still present and accounted for from the satin black air cleaner and 4-barrel carburetor to the leak-free power steering pump and giant cast iron Exhaust manifolds. Behind the engine, GM's stalwart turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission shifts gears almost imperceptibly all the while spinning a set of highway friendly gears which provide the smooth ride Cadillac customers had come to expect. Steering is one finger effortless, and the car's brakes are both powerful and reliable thanks to standard issue power front discs and power rear drums. The long wheelbase glides over imperfections without jostling the passengers, there's barely a burble from the factory replacement Exhaust system; and I'm more than a little impressed that someone invested in correct 15-inch Hercules MRX Plus IV whitewall tires for this cruiser which look and ride just like the originals. Until you've driven a true body-on-frame rear-wheel-drive luxury car, you can't imagine the floating, almost serene sensation of gliding along on a cushion of air. If you're a fan of big time comfort you'll be absolutely thrilled by this DeVille's well-maintained Medium Blue interior! The six way power front and manual rear patterned bench seats are firm and supple, with no signs of age or even so much as a frayed edge. In 1971, not quite everything was standard on a Cadillac, but things like power windows, power door locks, an AM/FM radio, air conditioning with automatic climate control and a remote satin and chrome finished passenger's side mirror were definitely part of the package; and they all look good, function properly and add a nice level of convenience to an already satisfying driving experience. In front of the driver, a tilt and telescoping steering column holds a beautifully preserved steering wheel which displays no delamination or cracking along its wood veneer insert. And the dash shows no signs of UV damage or age, leading me to believe that this car has been stored in a fully enclosed garage its entire life. This 1971 Cadillac drives the way only a low-mileage original can drive, and there's an intangible smoothness in the machinery that even the best restorations struggle to duplicate. 134420 / 1947 Cadillac Series 62
For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/l5erouf Combining the best aspects of classic motor city style with a skilled and thorough restoration, this substantial Cadillac is the perfect car for any enthusiast who wants to ooze old school swagger! An exceptionally solid survivor, this stunning convertible was completely disassembled, carefully modified and professionally restored by Malone Enterprises in Elkmont, Alabama. As you can tell from our documentation photos, the car was purchased in flat black and only required repairs to its hood and trunk to present a better-than-new appearance. Once those panels were patched, and sufficiently shaved, six coats of primer were alternated between six episodes of block-sanding, subjected to two installments of wet-sanding and covered in six layers of blue paint. When that paint dried, a thick clearcoat shell was sanded and buffed two more times to complete a three year, $181K restoration. And two years later, when the car's current owner came into the mix, he spent an additional $58K on slick black paint and a fresh leather interior. Restored by Mitchell's Racing Engines, and seated in a custom, body-matched bay, this Caddy's luxurious, 500 cubic inch V8 benefits from a full-scale detailing. At the top of its sinister black block, a silver-hued goddess rides a polished air cleaner that funnels wind into a coated Edelbrock 850 carburetor. That carburetor feeds a familiar Edelbrock Performer intake that's seated between big, "Cadillac" branded valve covers. At the front of those valve covers, a modern HEI distributor sequences fire through 8mm High Energy Wires. Those wires snake around ceramic coated, long-tube headers that dump charred gas into aluminized, true-dual pipes. In front of those headers, a custom fabricated Malone radiator sends coolant around a quick-spinning puller fan via bright, billet pulleys. Take a look under this super solid cruiser and you'll find a fully sorted chassis that, despite its road-ready mechanicals, is exceptionally clean and displays very few signs of wear. The front suspension was completely rebuilt using a '73 Firebird sub-frame and, like the modified Cadillac rear suspension, is currently fitted with adjustable air bags. Behind the big engine, a proven GM turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed makes good use of a sturdy, 10-bolt rear end. And at the corners of the car, traditional steel wheels spin 235/75R15 BF Goodrich whitewalls around dreamy Fleetwood hub caps. Clean, tailored and ready to roll, this Series 62's fresh leather interior features a perfect mix of outrageous style and traditional American luxury. The plush bucket seats are stuffed with firm padding and decked in striking, two-tone patterns. In front of those seats, a leather-trimmed dash hangs clean Classic Instruments gauges above billet components for Vintage Air climate control. Below that dash, a custom, full-length console centers buttons for the car's power top and air ride suspension under a modern Clarion sound system. In front of the driver, a polished Budnik steering wheel spins a color-keyed rim around a polished Ididit steering column. If you're looking for a spectacular custom that you can drive AND enjoy, don't miss the chance to park this classy Caddy in your garage. Call, click or visit http://RKMotorsCharlotte.com today!
