Scary Big Rig Race Crash June 2002 Calgary. (Crash at the 2:00 mark)
One of the scariest moments I caught in all my 25 years covering racing at Race City. Look for #76, the star and stripes Peterbilt get pinched and wrecked into the corner three wall at the 1:59 mark. Fortunately the driver suffered only minor injuries despite having to be rescued by safety crew with jaws of life. The destruction was staggering, however the truck cockpit stayed together due in part to the construction and thought given to protecting the driver. The race was red flagged in less than five seconds, Race City recue crew was on his truck in less than 30 seconds. I will follow this up with an interview with Mike (the racer) I conducted a year later...

Note: Don Williams died after 10 years in coma when his car hit the wall nearly head on at full speed, but that was not covered by the TV cameras.

Injuries: None
Jeremy Dale (Blue car) and Fabrizio Barbazza (Yellow car that split in half), IMSA @ Road Atlanta 1995
Injuries: Both of the drivers suffered injuries that would proof to be career-ending.

Injuries: Broken leg
Steve Grissom, NASCAR @ Atlanta 1997
Injuries: Broken ankle
Geoff Bodine, NASCAR Truck Series @ Daytona 2000
Injuries: He broke his right wrist, right cheekbone, a vertebra in his back, his right ankle, and also suffered a concussion. Nine fans were also injured in the accident.

Injuries: None
Giorgio Bartocci, Trofeo Lamborghini @ Brno 2010
Injuries: Broken ribs, a broken leg and second-degree burns over 40% of his body
Note: This crash was a total disaster for the firefighters on the track.
Giorgio was trapped inside his burning Lamborghini for almost a minute before one of his crew members who did not wear a fireproof suit and got his face burned could pull him out.
Giorgio is still recovering from his injuries.
Traxxas John Force Funny Car Launch 18t pinion gear
testing the new 18t pinion gear launch, seemed to get better low end traction at around 60% launch control on the dial, with the stock 14t pinion it would have spun the tires and flipped over. topped out at 54.8 mph w the 18 t the 14 t was 52 mph
A truly 'bizarre' Drag Racing Accident
Jacque Bidard, an experienced drag racer, knocks himself 'out-cold' during a ferocious start line launch and, whilst still unconscious, he unfortunately keeps his foot firmly planted on the throttle pedal - with disastrous results!
Event: the 'Nitro-Olympics' - held over the 1/8th mile distance drag strip.
Circuit: The Hockenheim, German Grand Prix circuit.

Top 15: The most chaotic Moments ever caused by Sudden Downpours (Part I)
A very rare, but very dangerous phenomenon sometimes striking racetracks: Sudden downpours.
Normally the teams metereologists and forecasts tell them in time when it's about to rain, but when there's more coming down than normal in a short period of time, total chaos ensures on the racetrack. Multiple drivers go off, others crash, collide or spin. Standing water and aquaplaning are often joined by strong winds which makes it even harder staying on track, plus the heavy rain and the spray limit the visibility to a minimum.
