97 7.3 PowerStroke cold start gone wrong caught on camera
*[= READ THE WHOLE DESCRIPTION BEFORE COMMENTING =]* THIS TRUCK FAILED TO START BECAUSE OF WEAK BATTERIES AND A DYING STARTER Immature comments are removed, so do act like you have some sense if atleast not a bit of respect. After letting my 97 F350 7.3 PowerStroke Diesel sit for a week I go out to start it up after it being 15 degrees the night before. Block heater wasn't plugged in. First the starter solenoid stuck and kept on cranking and cranking the engine without giving me any consideration, it wasn't until I pop the hood that it decided to listen to reason, and I mean just as I was about to open it it shut off HA HA HA! After doing some looking I found some oil dripping from under the engine and my first thought was I blew a HPOP seal or HP oil line, but nope, after some looking I found the oil coming from the oil cooler, and I also was smelling some antifreeze. I guess the weather change caused the seals to finally give up. I have done a complete tear down of this engine, check it out at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_QW6HTJbuLbUvGjWPFRcRB5bwUngX0nX In April 2013 I just put a new starter solenoid on it, and I will be taking it back to Advanced Auto Parts to get a new one as it is CLEARLY defective, it's done this several other times but never for more than 1-3 seconds and it usually only did it when I would shut the truck off. Crazy. This same week I was blessed enough to have found a 96 F350 7.3 from the original owner that is was in much better shape just in need of a e-fuel system.
