Grand National at the first "Pinks All Out"
LSPBC member John N. and Houstonite Ryan M. makes us proud at "Pinks All
Out" episode 1. This video has been edited to show only the runs related
to the two Buick entrants.
Discovery of the Nitrous / Methanol Drag Turbo Anti Lag System
After fighting with the installation of a larger turbo (B/W Airwerks S510/91mm), trying to find a
way to quickly spool this monsterous sucker with an automatic transmission
and a tight torque converter (in this paricular test, a 2,800 rpm torque
converter stall speed), we finally stumbled across a very interesting
tuning discovery. We've always used Nitrous to help quickly spool whatever turbo was on the car, but this is something
different. This is more than just simply injecting Nitrous.
This video shows the point where we had become aware that we had discovered
a new type of turbo ALS (anti lag
system) that we ended up developing further to become the Nitrous/Methanol Drag turbo Anti Lag System with Afterburner
Augmentation. Probably the most significant advancement of drag turbo anti lag technology in the past decade, not
to mention the advancement of the use of Nitrous with methyl alcohol (methanol) fuel.
Our spool assist valve was not used in these tests.
Through special engine configuration and tuning settings, oxygen is
chemically passed to the Exhaust
system without the need of having to cut the ignition to any of the
cylinders, thereby providing a simple, ULTRA smooth and quiet turbocharger anti lag, or quick spooling system.
This turns out to be even more effective than just using Nitrous injection in the more traditional manner
to spool the turbo. This allows a small
engine using a Nitrous/methanol mix to
spool a large efficient turbo with a
turbine side that will provide the much coveted crossover affect, opening
the door to more radical turbo camshaft
Nitrous/methanol mixes have come to be
known to provide sub standard hp levels for a given jet size rating.
Particularly when large shot sizes are being used. This system recovers all
of that lost rating in a very beneficial manner.
This system does not use the common pop and bang als method so often seen
in turbo drag racing today. It is much
easier on the engine, Exhaust system,
This new turbo anti lag system was
accomplished in spite of the fact that we are using a distributorless
wastespark ignition system. Or, maybe because of it?
I expect only the most adroit tuner to truly grasp the concept and
significance of this new system.
Warning: This type of turbocharger drag
anti lag system is for the most skillful tuners only.
BATMOBILE?! 1972 Buick Riviera 455 / 7.5L - startup, V8 sound, overview
Jamboolio records a highly customized 1972 Buick Riviera 2-Door Coupe with
the 7.5-liter 455 cid Big Block V8 engine.
This American muscle car classic has been modified with a two tone color
combination; orange and black, and also with huge chrome wheels.
Here's an overview of this gorgeous, almost Batmobile-like classic with a
very clean exterior, look into the engine bay, engine startup with loud Exhaust sound, and a few driving scenes,

1464 HP Grand National dyno
Owners name is Jim, this is an 87 GN with a funny car cage, air to liquid
Intercooler, SBC V8 (yeah, I
know), 106mm single turbo, running on
E85. The car Dyno'd
1464 HP but since this was a challenge no torque numbers were shown. The PA
system they have sucks and this car brought such a large crowd it took me
more than ten minutes just to see the screen and verify the numbers.
He won the Car Craft Dyno Challenge in the turbo class at the 2010 Car Craft Summer
GN vs. GT500
I ran a GT500, he wasnt talking to anyone, just acting like his GT500 was a
Ford GT or something. He did a really weird burnout and I let him get the
jump. I guess he liked his rims to much to get a stickier tire because all
he did was spin. It wasnt even a race, his time ended up being 21.41
seconds in the quarter.
Buick - History Documentary (1995)
This video is a wonderfully-done documentary, written and produced by
Michael Rose, on the history of Buick as presented in 1995 from the History
Channel's archive. Here is Michael's description of the video verbatim:
"No one would have believed that the tinkering of a plumber would turn into
the foundation of the world's largest corporation. But it did. David Dunbar
Buick invented a process to adhere porcelain to tubs and other bathroom
fixtures. But the Scottish immigrant dreamed of making a mark out of the
bathroom, and set to work building a car. By 1900, he enlisted the aid of
another inventor, Walter Marr, and they built their first vehicle. Their
invention attracted the attention of one of Michigan's wealthiest men,
William Crapo Durant, the president of the world's largest buggy-building
business. As soon as he drove one of Buick's early creations, Durant
realized that the days of the horse and buggy were over. He teamed up with
Buick, and the two went on to make history. By the thirties, Buicks were
regarded as some of the finest cars ever made. From the first Buicks
through the birth of General Motors and into history, this is the
compelling story of the partnership that eventually became the basis for
the largest company in the world."
