My Pontiac G8 GT at Cordova Dragway. Runs were made during National G8 meet
September 2011. Mods are Volant intake, Vector Motorsports stage 1.5 cam
and tune, Kooks headers w/catted midpipe system to stock axleback mufflers.
Last run was personal best 12.95 at 109.8 mph on the last run. This was
with street tires 285-35-19 Nitto Invo, so not great traction, best 60ft is
over 2 seconds. Drag tires should help with that, hopefully.
06 GTO VRX5 idle, Trickflow 225 FAST 102
06 LS2 M6 GTO
•VRX5 cam 236/238 duration, 595/601 lift, 113+3 LSA.
•Trickflow 225 heads milled to 62.5 cc's with 0.045" Cometic gaskets for
a final static compression of 11.5:1 with a stock bottom end/stock cubes.
•FAST 102 unaltered. FAST 46 lb injectors. K&N CAI.
•Kooks Stepped long tube headers and off road mid pipes, with a
Flowmaster axle-back system custom made into a catback system. Sounded
clean. Whole Exhaust set up is
currently on another GTO!
•Made 484 rwhp and 440 rwtq with a stock clutch. Could of past 500 with a
better CAI, underdrive pulley, electric water pump, and NW throttle body.
Excellent top-end pull starting at 4K rpm, with little midrange power and
no bottom end power. Idled like a pro mod especially with the a/c on(driver
mod FTW). This build loped MUCH more than the Torquer v3 cam-only build,
even though the Tv3 overlap was 10.5* and the VRX5 overlap was 11*. This
was most likely due to increased low rpm reversion caused by the extra
airflow from the heads and FAST 102 as featured on this video. Bucked a lot
more than the Tv3 cam as well. Bucking didn't clear up at partial throttle
until above 1900 rpm, but it was light from 1600 up to 1900. It was a fun
street car. Building something lighter and stronger now.
