Supercharged Tiburon GT - Exhaust cutout
Exhaust cutout installed on my supercharged Hyundai Tiburon GT. Some will call this "ricer", but i personnaly have a lot of fun with that mod. I love to be able to switch so easily between a "normal" sound an a "rally car" sound. Don't ask if performance is better when cutout is opened, i haven't Dynoed it yet ; it may be, but not by much, considering the welding shop replaced more of the piping than planned so it's 2.5" until it splits to the Evofusion dual 2". 5 years ago, i had bought a Evofusion catback. It was ok for NA mods, but i'm now supercharged, and i'm about to install an even bigger MP90 Supercharger, so that tiny 2.25" catback was becoming a problem. But i loved its sound and the looks of its tips. So i had most of the catback replaced by some 2.5" piping, except for the rear that remained the original Evofusion. I had the Exhaust cutout placed between the 2.5 and the 2.25" section (i had first tried it just after the headers and the sound was totally unbearable). My objective was to keep a bearable sound when cutout was opened, thanks to the resonator. But the Magnaflow muffler 10436 muffler proved not to be enough to reduce sound, even with closed cutout, so i deleted the Hurricane high flow cat and replaced it with a Vibrant 1141 resonator which did quite a good job to bring sound to a more decent level. The final result, when cutout is closed, is a deeper and a bit louder sound than with the unmodified Evofusion Exhaust, and a very agressive rally sound when cutout is opened.

Exhaust related questions: Q: What OBX model is that? A: OBX Type R dual Exhaust, cat-back system. Q: Any problems with the cops? A: No problems with the Exhaust. Q: Where did you get the Exhaust? How much did it cost? A: I bought the Exhaust used (in near mint condition) from a forum member at the above URL, set me back around $250 shipped. I think I've seen them on eBay/Amazon around $350 Q: How much did it cost to set the Exhaust (install it)? A: Only a few hours of my time, did it myself. Not sure what a shop would charge but it's a basic install with jack stands and air tools. Q: Did you have to make any modifications or was it a complete bolt-on? A: It was a direct bolt on with no alterations necessary. Perfect fitment! Non-Exhaust related: Q: What tail lights do you have, where can I get them, etc...? A: They are stock tail lights from an 05-06 Tiburon blacked out. Not too dark you can't see the brake lights, just dark enough. Q: What bumper is that? Where can I get it? A: The bumper is an AIT GT-Spec bumper (Zefiro Ronda knockoff). Purchased used from a local member of the forums. Google is your friend here, they can be found numerous places online. Someone rear-ended me and I got a replacement straight from AIT, courtesy of the D-bags insurance. Q: Was the bumper silver when you got it, or did you have to color match it? A: Bought new they come primered only, you will have to get them color matched.

Btw, for anyone wondering, I couldn't find a GT to compare unfortunately, so I had to take what I could get. Just about everything you would like to know about the Genesis and the Tiburon, RWD VS FWD, the genesis is an all new model not related to the Tiburon, it may be the new Hyundai Coupe, but it did not "replace" the Tiburon as quoted by Hyundai. (Credit 85ZingoGTR) The Genesis Coupe is larger by 10 inches in comparison to the Tiburon. Also, the Tiburon is a front wheel drive car targeted towards cars like Mitsubishi Eclipse and´╗┐ Toyota Celica while the Genesis Coupe was made to target cars like the Mustang and 370Z. Hyundai plans on introducing the Veloster to replace the Tiburon and join its larger Genesis Coupe brother. My main purpose is to show the efforts and strides that Hyundai has taken for their coupes and performance cars in just a few short years, not necessarily comparing generations of the same model, which like I said before, they are not. In this video I give a full in depth tour review of the 2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Grand Touring and the 2008 Tiburon. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of these cars while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicles themselves. I also show the engines and the details of them, start them up and see how they sound under acceleration.
