Replaced the Turbo in the 2000 Saab 9-3 Hatchback (Start Up, First Drive, Before/After)
Well I finally am getting the video up on the 2000 Saab 9-3 that I featured a while ago with an engine malfunction. Turns out that it was a bad turbo. we replaced it and gave it a good service and now it runs like new. no it didn't take this long to fix, it's been done for a while, just waiting for the people to come and get it if they come get it haha, plus I've been at school so not a lot of chances to go home to video it. If not we'll just detail it and give our warranty with it like the first time and make someone else happy with it! :)
More Problems With the 2000 Saab 9-3 (Smoking, Test Drive, etc.)
Well many of you have seen all the other videos on this car and seen that
we replaced the turbo in it a little
while ago. After sitting for an extended period and battling to get it
started with a dead battery, when I took it for a drive it started smoking,
more and more. Today, 1 day later after I drove it, we started it up and
no smoke was to be found. Weird, we'll have to check it out more to make
sure everything is right with it. but like I said, today, everything was
totally fine so idk if the oil/gas mixture got screwed up or something from
sitting so long with little to no gas in it (had to fill it up before the
drive) or what. We shall see I guess! Let me know what you guys think!

Solving 2001 Saab 9-5 ABS/TCS/CEL Problem -EricTheCarGuy
Visit me at: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/
This 2001 Saab 9-5 came in with just about every light lit up on the dash.
The first code I pulled was a P1625 for the CEL which indicates a
communication error between the ABS unit and the PCM. After looking into
this code I found out this is a common problem with these Bosch ABS units.
Rather than purchasing a new unit however I decided to send the existing
ABS unit off to BBA Remanufacturing for remanufacture. Some of these units
require that you pair a new unit up with the PCM, mine was one of those so
sending off my existing unit made the most sense because if I had just
gotten a remanufactured one I would have had to program it to work with the
cars PCM. This took a bit longer but it saved me quite a bit of trouble in
the end. Here are some useful links mentioned in the video.

How to Rebuild a Turbo - Part 1 of 2
Rebuilding a td05h 16g turbo. This
process can be applied to many journal bearing turbochargers. :) It definitely comes in handy to
know how to do this when you are in this type of hobby.
4/25/12: Small explanation on the balancing of the rotating assembly since
I get so many comments regarding it. This particular turbocharger, td05h, has its rotating assembly
components balanced separately. This means each individual part (compressor
wheel, turbine wheel/shaft) gets balanced separately. This allows for easy
interchangeability of parts in case they need replacing. This is why I am
able to install a td05 20g wheel on this turbo without having to balance the entire
rotating assembly. THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR ALL turboS OUT THERE. You need to research whether
your specific turbo (if it's not td05h)
was balanced as an assembly or "component balanced" like I explained above.
I hope this information helps. Good luck in your projects. Stay Boostin'

1999 Saab 9-3 SE Convertible - NO START
After a head gasket replacement, my car will still not start. The timing
looks ok (the Exhaust camshaft might
be off by one tooth) There seems to be fuel getting to the engine, the
battery is good, spark plugs are new. What could be wrong with my car?

Saab 9-3 sump drop/turbo failure
After buying a Saab 9-3 with turbo
problems I decided to investigate. The turbo had completely failed. Will post video on
that later. As you can see sump completely slugged with bits of breather
pipe. Anyone with a 9-3 or 9-5 always drop your sump to check. This car
hasn't done a lot of miles and full Saab history.
