A high school class project turned into a learning experience for GM as well as the students. Instructor Kelly Brinker grew up in a GM family and arranged for her photography class to attend the Los Angeles Auto Show. Bird's Eye View of Rooftop Solar Arrays at GM Baltimore Operations
The Chevrolet Spark EV’s electric motor and drive unit are being manufactured in Maryland under a rooftop solar array in a newly LEED-certified building. The General Motors Baltimore Operations complex added 580 kilowatts of solar to the roof of its e-Motor building, which earned LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Together with a 1.23-megawatt solar array on its grounds, 6 percent of the facility’s electricity comes from renewable sources. Maryland-based Empower Energies installed the solar system.
