Designed for the daily driver who enjoys pushing his car to the limits on
open track days, the ROUSH 427R Trak Pak Mustang has plenty of specialized
content to accommodate the unique needs of those who like driving up to the
edge on the racetrack in a safe, controlled environment.
With the addition of the intercooled ROUSHcharger™ the 427R Trak Pak Mustang has 435 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft.
of torque, plenty of power to quickly get up to speed on the straightaways.
The cooling system has been enhanced with a black bar high flow front
grille and radiator cooling shields. There is a functional strut tower
brace under the hood to help strengthen the chassis and decrease unwanted
The suspension system has been completely revamped to easily manage the
twists and turns of a road course. The ROUSH 427R Trak Pak suspension
includes adjustable front and rear shocks, front and rear springs, front
and rear stabilization bars, front and rear jounce bumpers and adjustable
To whoa this pony down ROUSH adds 6-piston front calipers with 14-inch,
two-piece slotted front rotors and slotted rear rotors. The brake pads are
replaced with high-performance racing quality versions, and the new ROUSH
brake cooling system and high temperature brake fluid will ensure that the
brakes will be ready when you need them the most.
The ROUSH three-piece aerobody kit gives the car a menacing look as it
roars past the other cars on the track, and consists of a front fascia,
front chin spoiler and hood scoop. The car rides on 18-inch forged wheels
painted a dark charcoal and mounted to ultra-performance tires for maximum
grip on the racetrack. The functional hood pins, unique graphics and
badging add to the overall styling of the car.
Inside the cockpit the driver will immediately notice the addition of the
new three-gauge dash pod with engine oil temperature, coolent temperature
and a Boost gauge. A shift light has
also been integrated into this dash pod as well. The ROUSH sport leather
seating, short throw shifter with retro-style ball, and four-piece
performance pedal kit help to round out the interior styling.
The number 427 has been intertwined in the Ford product line for many
years, both as a car model and one of the most powerful and legendary
engines in their line. It is only natural that ROUSH, as perhaps the best
Ford engine builder in the country, is the company to reintroduce the
number to the automotive lexicon using modern engine technology.
Based on the acclaimed ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang, this version is slightly
less in content but includes 100 percent of the fun factor. The 427R horsepower package is
highlighted by the intercooled ROUSHcharger* system which adds 135 horsepower and 65 lb-ft of
torque to the base Ford 4.6L, 3-valve V8 powertrain system. The additional
power upgrade comes via a ROUSH-engineered ECM calibration which has been
specially-tuned to work in harmony with the different Exhaust system used on the vehicle. The
resulting total power rating for this vehicle is 435hp and 400 lb-ft of

We've driven our fair share of Mustangs, but it's a rare occasion
that we get to drive one at the track. That's part of the reason why we
made the seven hour trek from Southern California to Thunderhill Raceway in
Willows, CA, to get behind the wheel of Roush's new 427R Trak Pak Mustang. What's so special about the
Trak Pak? For starters, it's got a supercharged V8 packing 435 horsepower and an abundance
of race-ready items like an adjustable suspension, carbon fiber wing, and
14-inch brakes that all make it ideal for the weekend warrior who wants his
vehicle to handle the daily grind and track-day floggings. With only 100
being built, this may be one of the few opportunities to see one in the
sheetmetal, let alone to drive it on the track. While inclement weather the
night before threatened to ruin the trip, we were blessed with a rain-free

A fast drive on the Autobahn A1 with a BMW 730d, Part 1: From Bremen to Hamburg
Since my Autobahn videos have become kind of a favourite to many visitors
of my channel, I decided to do a really nice, long and fast Autobahn run
(If you want to skip the speed-limited beginning, go directly to 11:10
So I chose to drive from a gas station west of Bremen to Hamburg, through
the Elbtunnel and back again to Wilhelmshaven. This video was taken on an
early Sunday morning, which means almost no traffic and hardly any trucks.
The car is a BMW 730d with 258 HP. I drove a distance of 340 kilometers in
roughly 110 minutes, which means an average speed of 185 km/h. This
resulted in a fuel consumption of 14.71 liters/100 km, or -- for our
American friends -- 16 MPG.
Considering it is a 2-ton car, that still had winter tyres mounted and that
it was a very windy day (as you can tell from the constant corrections of
the steering wheel), that is an okay result for a diesel, especially if you
bring to mind, that long stretches of road where done at 240 km/h -- which
by the way is perfectly legal in Germany.
The mounted winter tyres are limited to 240 km/h, so for safety reasons I
hardly exceeded that speed, even though the car is good for 255 on the
If you want to enjoy the German Autobahn like this, too, an early Sunday
morning -- starting at sunrise in the summer -- is the best time to do it.
That is about the only time, when you have enough space to really floor it.
The A1 from Bremen to Hamburg was recently reconditioned and expanded to 3
lanes per direction, which means the tarmac is less than a year old and
thus still very smooth and even. The newly-paved part begins at 10:05 min.
When there was a speed limited, I mostly used the radar-guided cruise
control. And if you wonder, why there is a speed limit of 120 km/h on a
perfectly fine three-lane Autobahn at the beginning of the video, it's
because of the state of Bremen. The Green Party is part of the government
there, which means for ideological reasons they implemented a general 120
km/h speed limit within the city limits of Bremen. But as soon as the
Autobahn goes into the state of Lower Saxony again, the speed limit is
On normal days it hardly matters, because traffic on the A1 is usually so
tight, that you cannot go faster
anyway. But on a Sunday morning joyride like this it really bothers.

The 2010 BMW 7-Series lineup gains available all-wheel drive, a new top-end
model, and a gas/electric hybrid version following its redesign for the
2009 model year. Conventional 7-Series models include the 750i and 750Li,
each with rear-wheel drive. New for 2010 are the AWD 750i xDrive and 750Li
xDrive. A new top-end rear-drive 760Li is due later in model-year 2010. The
"L" versions of BMW's flagship sedan ride on a wheelbase that is 5.5-inches
longer than that of the 750i. All 750i cars are powered by a 400-hp
4.4-liter twin turbocharged V8. A
6-speed automatic transmission is standard. The ActiveHybrid 7 pairs a
4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor for 455 hp total. The hybrid
system can shut off the gas engine at a stop, but the car is unable to
accelerate solely on battery power. No plug-in charging is required. The
hybrid uses an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 760Li has a turbocharged 544-hp 6.0-liter V12 engine and an
8-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS,
traction control, antiskid system, front and rear side airbags, knee
airbags, and curtain side airbags. BMW's Active Roll Stabilization,
designed to counter body lean, should remain part of the optional Sport
Package, along with BMW's new Integral Active Steering, which adds
speed-sensitive rear-wheel steering to BMW's Active Steering system. Also
standard should be BMW's Dynamic Driving Control, which allows the driver
to adjust the suspension, throttle response, transmission's shift
characteristics, and power steering. A navigation system and wireless
cell-phone link should remain standard along with the new version of BMW's
iDrive control for audio, navigation, and climate settings. All models
continue to include steering-linked headlights, front- and rear-obstacle
detection, and BMW Assist emergency and concierge service. Other features
that should return on the 2010 7-Series include blind-spot alert,
lane-departure warning, a head-up display, sideview and rearview cameras,
and high beams that automatically dim when oncoming traffic is detected.
Also offered should be a 40-gigabyte hard drive for the audio and
navigation systems, which allows for storage of up to 13 gigabytes of music
files. A night-vision system, adaptive cruise control, DVD entertainment,
and keyless access and engine start should return. This report is based on
