10 second 68 Firebird Sacramento Raceway 1987
This 68 Firebird was my first car purchased when I was 17 in 1977. The car
is currently undergoing a frame-off restoration.
At the time this video was taken in 1987 it was powered by a 455 Pontiac
The best ¼ mile performance was an ET of 10.87 and a MPH of 124.83 WITHOUT
the aid Nitrous oxide.
The heads are ported factory cast iron D-Ports cast# 48.
Crankshaft is factory 455
Rods are factory 73/74 455 Super-Duty
Camshaft is a Cam Dynamics solid flat-tappet with .618/.644" lift (1.65
rockers) 265/275 @.050 duration
Advertised duration is 312/322 int/exh
Pistons are Ross flat-tops yielding 12:1 compression ratio with the 69cc
Carburetion is 2 660cfm Holley center squirters mounted on a Doug
Nash/Warrior tunnel-ram manifold.
The differential is a Dana 60 with a 4.10 ratio gear set

actual miles! New paint job o.e. color - Sandalwood with GT-37 / GTO Judge
stripes, 400, 2bbl engine, 400 turbo
auto trans, dual Flowmaster Exhaust
system, power steering, power front disc brakes, ARA add-on air

70 Double Blown GTO
My 1970 GTO with two blowers. It's 474ci Pontiac engine with a 8-71 blower
on top of a 6-71 blower. This is from the last day of being double blown.
I'm going to one single 8-71 blower and going racing. The front clip was
removed to make it easier to work on. The reason for the double blowers was
not as a power enhancement like many ASSume. I stacked the blowers to have
a car that stood out in the crowd. Most Pro Street cars were starting to
blend together. If you seen one, you had seen them all. That wasn't the
case with this GTO. Al someone had to say was "The double blower GTO" and
people knew which car. I was told it couldn't be done, so I attempted it
and it worked. It stayed that way for almost 2 years. I knew a twin turbo setup would make more HP. I knew I could
have run a 14-71 blower and made more power. That wasn't the point. I
wanted to be different than the other cars in the parking lot, I did that
now it's time to ove on. For all those people who don't understand why,
I'm not going to try and explain it to you anymore. Get over it. I didn't
expect EVERYONE to love it. But you won't forget it.

This beast sports a twin turbo 522cid
big block Chevy that screams out 1250hp on pump gas and a ridiculous 2000hp

of the Rochester Quadrajet. Not many people know how many variations there
are or how to tell them apart.
