Launch Control: A new season starts at Sno*Drift Rally - Episode 2.1
Launch Control - Season 2, Episode 1 - "A Cold Start" Watch all episodes of Launch Control here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1MTbRON4T882S-XEFu3StytlAFShrF2M Follow the team on Twitter and Instragram @srtusa: http://www.twitter.com/srtusa http://www.instagram.com/srtusa #launchcontrolTV #SubaruRally You only truly know how to accomplish something once you have actually done it. Turning points and opportunities are only fully recognized with hindsight. So, for a team as experienced as Subaru Rally Team USA, reverse engineering a championship title should be straight forward. Except it never is. Thousands of circumstances and decisions led to this moment, and no two seasons will offer the same opportunities. Experience might form the road map to a title, but it's a road map already out of date. The 2014 championships bring new competition, new events, and new cars. A new road awaits. This is Season Two of Launch Control. ---------- At the Vermont Sports Car facility, the team is putting the finishing touches on a completely new rally car for David Higgins. But before this car is even finished, the next project is already waiting in the wings. Before it has even been revealed to the public, a brand-new twenty-fifteen STI has been delivered for initial engineering development. With only a handful of these in existence, the team is excited to get its first glance of what will eventually become their new rally and rallycross platform. It gets little attention for the moment, however. A complete tear down of the rallycross cars, and final testing of the 2014 rally cars occupies the entire team. ---------- Ice-covered roads, studless tires, and minus twenty degree temperatures greet the teams on race day at Michigan's Sno*Drift Rally. Cold is an understatement. Sno*Drift is once again the opening round of the 2014 Rally America Championship. For Subaru Rally Team USA, the challenge is doubled. Teething issues with new rally cars can easily ambush a team's event. The cold only increases the stress on the car and its parts. Despite the team's confidence, a degree of uncertainty lingers under the calm surface. Can the team start the season off with a win, or will problems derail their efforts? Subaru Isle of Man TT Record Attempt
Subaru of America, Inc. has released a new YouTube video of the 2011 Subaru WRX STI setting an all-time course record for the historic Isle of Man TT Mountain Course. The 5 minute 25 second video highlights in graphic detail the speed and drama surrounding rally driver Mark Higgins' lap that averaged 115.356 MPH. After the run, Higgins talks through the "moment" at Brey Hill when he momentarily loses, and then regains, control of the WRX STI at more than 150 MPH. Driving a US specification 2011 Subaru WRX STI, Higgins achieved speeds of 162 MPH and a lapped time of 19 minutes 37 seconds over the 37-mile track, navigating more than 200 corners. "This is one of the most daunting tracks I have ever driven, and the most terrifying," said Higgins, a Manx native. "We were only able to get two practice runs and on our second practice I had the biggest "moment" of my career. We had a passenger on the run and so coming into Bray Hill at more than 150 MPH, the extra weight compressed the suspension more than on previous runs and shifted the Subaru to the left and then right as I corrected--it was a real tank slapper. The whole thing went by so quickly that we never slowed below 110 MPH, and then we were back on the power. It was amazing and the helicopter shots really show just how hairy it really was." The WRX STI was a production US spec car running a standard 305 HP turbocharged boxer engine. Some safety modifications were made. The Subaru was equipped with a Lifeline fire suppression system, Hockley Motorsports roll cage, motordrive competition seats, Mintex brake pads (but stock calipers and rotors), and a louder open Exhaust to warn spectators of the on-coming car. The speed limiter was turned off to allow a higher maximum speed; off-the shelf Tien springs and dampers were added to accommodate the numerous high-speed jumps on the circuit, sending the WRX STI almost four feet off the ground. The car ran on street legal Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tires.

Subaru Rally Team USA Event Review Video: 2010 SnoDrift Rally
Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana and his co-driver Christian Edstrom overcame treacherously icy conditions to take a dominating win at the 2010 Sno*Drift Rally, round one of the 2010 Rally America National Championship. Pastrana, the defending four-time Rally America National Champion, won by over one minute and thirty seconds driving an open class rally specification 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. In an amazing show of determination and grit, Pastrana completed the event nursing an extremely sore collarbone which he broke in a motocross accident less than a week ago. High-speed ride with Subaru Rally Team USA's David Higgins at STPR 2012
Ride inside the cockpit and on the front bumper with David Higgins and Craig Drew in their Subaru Rally Team USA STI as they race flat out through the forest stages of Pennsylvania's STPR Rally. Watch more videos at www.subaru.com/rally Subaru driver David Higgins completed the biggest comeback of his career to finish second overall on the sinuous and technical dirt roads of Pennsylvania's 2012 Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR), round four of six in the 2012 Rally America National Championship. Higgins dropped over three minutes to the leaders after a mechanical problem struck his Subaru on the event's first stage dropping him down to 13th Overall. With his BFGoodrich-tires shod Subaru WRX STI fully repaired for STPR's second and much longer day of rallying, Higgins pushed hard and climbed the leaderboard, finding himself on the podium at the finish. The strong result retains Higgins' substantial lead in the 2012 Rally America Championship standings and puts him within a handful of points of securing his second straight Rally America crown with two events still remaining.

Ferrari F430 Spider drifting + donuts
Yesterday I had the opportunity of shooting this Ferrari F430 Spider doing some insane donuts and drifting! He started with a brand new set of tires and burned all the rubber off. The owner of the car used to drive rally cars in Europe and is a huge fan of Ken Block and everything Ken Block does for the rally sport community in the United States. The Ferrari sounds absolutely insane while shredding tires. This isn't the first time the owner has gone drifting in it because he shows great car control. Also to let everyone know I am doing the Bullrun rally this week in a Lamborghini LP640 so hopefully I will have a lot more videos coming soon! Enjoy! DC SHOES: GYMKHANA 2.1, BLOCK vs DYRDEK
As seen on MTVs Rob Dyrdeks Fantasy Factory, Gymkhana 2.1 takes the epic cinematography and driving from DC Co-Founder and Rally Team Member Ken Block that youve come to expect from the Gymkhana videos and mixes in Rob Dyrdek in his comical and somewhat powerful miniature version of Blocks rally car. The two, who have worked together and been good friends since Dyrdek joined the DC skate team in 1995, decided to get the shifter car built and film the clip when Dyrdek made an appearance in the Gymkhana TWO video earlier this year. A custom mold was made to build the shifter car nearly identical to Kens Subaru WRX STI (except for the head-out-the-roof part). The team at Vermont SportsCar wrapped the shifter in the same graphics as Blocks competition rally car, and a custom fireproof, FIA certified driving suit just like Blocks was even made for Dyrdek. The Gymkhana 2.1 video features all the near run-overs, drifting, racing and shenanigans that occur when two unique individuals like Dyrdek and Block hit the tarmac in polar-opposite-sized whips. Climb - Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a Monster
Ride on the bumper of a screaming 910hp, Twin-turbo, All-wheel Drive, 150 mph Suzuki SX4 as it races up one of the world's most dangerous hills. An attempt by the "Monster" to break his own record of 10:01:41... COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (June 29, 2010) -- For the fifth consecutive time, Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima combined experience, skill and Falken Tires to claim overall victory in the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Although he did not set a new Pikes Peak record, one day before his 60th birthday, Tajima continues to hold the current overall record for reaching the peak, beating hill climb veterans Paul Dallenbach and Rhys Millen in the Unlimited Class. He drove his new 910-hp Monster Sport Suzuki SX4 Hill Climb Special on Falken WildPeak A/T tires, the powerful new line of all-terrain, all-season tires Falken launched this past April. Following Exhaustive tests in a Japanese wind tunnel facility, Monster's 2010 Pikes Peak race car underwent extensive aerodynamic changes to better adapt to the modified road surface on the race to the clouds, which assumed a smoother tarmac and less gravel than last year. Thinning air ascending the mountain robs most motors of their power by 30 or more percent, but the increase in horsepower over last year's race car helped push the driver forward.

Rally In-Car Video: Subaru Rally Team USA's Travis Pastrana on Stage 10 at the 2010 SnoDrift Rally
Check out exclusive in-car point-of-view video of Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana sliding to victory at the 2010 SnoDrift Rally, Round 1 of the 2010 Rally America National Championship! The Sno*Drift Rally was held on over 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads in northern Michigan. The forest roads were a virtual skating rink after recent warm weather melted the snow cover which then refroze this past week, leaving the roads covered in a thick sheet of ice. Rally America rules prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice-tires, placing a high premium on traction. Calling the stage notes is Pastrana's long time co-driver Christian Edstrom.
