► Mercedes Future Truck 2025 (Autonomous Driving Demo)
The Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 constitutes a revolution in
efficiency, safety and networking, a revolution for road traffic and its
infrastructure, for professional driving and for the road transport sector.
This is not a new truck, but rather the key element in the interconnected
transport system of the future. It is being developed as part of the
"Shaping Future Transportation" initiative by Daimler Trucks to conserve
resources and reduce emissions of all kinds. Other aims are to ensure the
highest possible level of traffic safety and to Boost networking with intelligent data
management considerably for tailor-made vehicle and service solutions.
The prototype demonstrated the exciting capabilities of the
Future Truck 2025 back in the summer at speeds of up to 80 km/h in
realistic traffic situations on a section of the A14 motorway in Magdeburg,
Germany. Now the thrilling exterior and interior of that same vehicle are
One of the most interesting questions on the subject of autonomous driving
is the time horizon envisaged for its realisation. In purely technical
terms, turning it into reality on the roads is already feasible within
around five years. In terms of passenger car development cycles, a possible
start is envisaged in 2020. Owing to the more complex factors for heavy
commercial vehicles, the time horizon for such vehicles will, however, be
rather longer – realistically implementation is possible within ten
years, also in view of the legal considerations that still remain to be
The introduction of autonomous driving will not happen digitally from one
day to the next, as development is progressing in a gradual manner:
evolutionary stages are necessary to revolutionise goods haulage on the
roads. In the coming years, new and improved assistance systems will
continue to pave the clearly set-out way to autonomous driving.

2008 Dodge Viper ACR: From L.A. to Bonneville
CHECK OUT THE VIPER AC-R ARTICLE:
We're about to make our first high-speed run in the still-black 2008 Dodge
Viper ACR when the old guy pulls up to our makeshift pit. He looks exactly
like the guy you'd expect to meet in the middle of the Bonneville Salt
Flats, like a worn-out Hank Williams, Jr.
Over the deafening cackle of his Cummins-powered diesel pickup, he yells,
"What's you boys doin'?"
"We're going to make a few runs in this Viper here."
"Yeah, how fast will she run?"
"We don't really know. Maybe 190 or so."
By the expression on his face, it's obvious ol' Hank has figured out that
we have no idea what we're doin'. He knows we're just a bunch of yahoos
with a fast car. He takes a good long look at the big winged Viper, then he
shuts off the truck's engine so we can hear him better.
"When you're going fast, the slightest gust of wind can flip you," he says.
"That's why we only ran early in the morning when the air was calm."
We look up at the mid-afternoon sun and wonder what we've gotten ourselves
"And make sure you don't run out of room," he continues. "You think you
have all the space in the world, then Floating Mountain is suddenly right
in your face. I remember when I went for 300 mph back in 1978; my chutes
didn't open and I almost didn't get her stopped." He runs his fingers
through a white beard. "Didn't make 300 either," he adds. "Only 280."
Great. We thought this Bonneville thing was as easy as holding our foot
down until the speedometer stopped moving. Now Mr. Monday Night has us
imagining our $100,000 Viper sliding across the Utah desert on its roof.
2014 Mercedes E400 (333hp) AMG Line - DRIVE & SOUND (1080p)
The full DRIVE & SOUND test with the facelifted 2014 Mercedes-Benz E400
Sedan/Limousine powered by a 3.0 Biturbo
V6 delivering 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque throughout a very wide
power-band. My special thanks go to the Torpedo Garage in Kaiserslautern
(www.torpedo-garage.de) that provided the E400 and let me take all the time
I needed to test it. Instead of double clutch transmissions Mercedes sticks
to its 7G-Tronic PLUS gearbox which definitely has its advantages on the
comfort side not on the fast shiftings. Still, the figures are impressive
if you consider this being equally quick as a new Golf 7 R or a Jaguar
F-Type V6 Coupe, at least on the Autobahn. Actually Mercedes recently
announced a change for the 2015 model-year which includes an upgrade to a
3.5 liter machine, still being a V6 Biturbo with the same power. Looking at the E-Class
it seems that only the 4Matic versions and the new CLS 400 will be getting
the 3.5, RWD sedan, C 400 and SL 400 still sticking to the 3.0. Especially
with the optional AMG Line trim this car looks great, very sporty and
understated. The Air suspension makes this car very comfortable on long
Autobahn trips without really being un-sporty! But hey, now its time for
your thoughts and COMMENTs on this car. Do you have more infos about the
engine change or do you LIKE what you see;-) Please also think about a free

Dr Wolfgang Bernhard: "Our Future Truck 2025 provides compelling answers to
the challenges that our customers will be facing in the future. Our aim
therefore is to press forward with readying this technology for the market
and to bring it to series-production standard. I am convinced that this
will open up a whole new business perspective for Daimler Trucks."
The technology of tomorrow is already a reality at Daimler Trucks, in the
shape of the Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025. The autonomously driving
truck was presented on the eve of the 65th International Motor Show for
commercial vehicles in Hanover, Germany. Its perfect synthesis of
technology and design means: The Future Truck 2025 is more than simply a
new truck; it is a key component of the transport system of the future. For
the Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 is sparing on resources, reduces
emissions of all types, ensures maximum road traffic safety and increases
the level of networking in road transport. Goods traffic in the future will
be safer, more efficient and more connected as a result. The Future Truck
2025 thus marks a revolution for road traffic and its infrastructure, the
truck driving profession and the haulage industry as a whole.
Work continues to take the Future Truck 2025 towards market maturity -
series production on the horizon
The Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 is far more than a remote vision. The
truck should be on our roads in ten years' time. Many of its technological
elements are already available and ready to use.
"This truck provides compelling answers to the challenges that our
customers will be facing in the future. Our aim therefore is to press
forward with readying this technology for the market and to bring it to
series-production standard," said Dr Wolfgang Bernhard, Daimler Board
Member for Trucks and Buses, at the presentation of the innovative vehicle
in Hanover. "What we are showing here today is how the transport of goods
on our roads will be running more efficient, safer and more connected in
ten years' time. I am convinced that this will open up a whole new business
perspective for Daimler Trucks ," added Bernhard.
Redline Review: 2015 Mercedes-Benz C400
No longer the entry-level runt in the Mercedes-Benz family, the 2015
C-class has moved significantly upmarket in design, technology, driving
dynamics, and luxury. Looking and feeling like the flagship S-class, this
all-new C400 should give BMW and Audi drivers a run for their money. Those
of you who can swallow the high price of admission will be treated to one
phenomenal sport luxury sedan. Just be sure to spend some time with the
Mercedes Benz E55 AMG vs. Ferrari
Launched in 2002, the W211 E-Class was a huge improvement over the previous
model and was rated as a substantially better vehicle Launched in 2002, the
W211 E-Class was a huge improvement over the previous model and was rated
as a substantially better vehicle than its long time rival BMW 5-series
(which had previously been rated as better in all areas). The W211-based
W219 CLS-Class 4-door coupe was introduced in 2005 to attract younger
customers. In many Northern-European countries the E-Class is used as a
taxi and so the image is not viewed as being exclusive enough along with
its traditionally 'old-man's car' image. The W211 E-Class was facelifted in
2006 to freshen up its appearance and primarily to improve quality and
technical aspects of the car. The largest engine in the E-class range is
the E500 (badged E550 in the U.S.) which had its engine size increased from
5 litres to 5.5 litres in 2006 along with the facelift. There is also an
AMG model badged E63 AMG.
Mercedes-Benz introduced their BlueTec Diesel system to the E-Class at the
2006 North American International Auto Show as the E320 CDI BlueTec.
BlueTec is a two-phase system for cleaning diesel emissions. The first
phase makes the E320 CDI legal in 45 of the 50 United States (plus the
District of Columbia). The second phase uses urea for further reductions to
meet the more stringent standards of California, Maine, Massachusetts, New
York, and Vermont. Sales of E320 CDI BlueTec began in autumn 2006 as a 2007
model, but 50-state legal models with urea injection will only be
introduced in 2009 model year.
The W211 model of the E-Class became somewhat infamous for its poor
reliability. Consumer Reports classified the W211 model's reliability as
"poor," its lowest rating, and declared it one of the "least reliable
luxury cars", but the newer 2007 models have rebound on quality, with JD
Power giving the E class, the best in the mid size luxury segment award.
