Ford History - Birth Ford Motor Company
In n 1903, Henry Ford funded, with 11 other partners the Ford Motor Company, and began a long journey that would made Ford a major player in modern cars history. Ford began its work immediately, thanks to the experience of his founder in the field of the first motor vehicles. The first car initialed with the letters of the alphabet were made ​​and sold. Tiny Lund wins the 5th running of the Daytona 500 held on February 24, 1963. After Marvin Panch was involved in a fiery wreck in a sports car race two weeks before the 500, Tiny Lund (a behemoth of a man weighing nearly 300 pounds and standing 6'6") jumps into action and pulled the driver from his burning car. Panch, still recovering from his injuries, convince the Wood Brothers to run Lund in the 500 where he would go on to beat Fred Lorenzen by 24 seconds. NEW 2014 Chevrolet SS unveiled at Daytona
The Chevrolet SS benefits from the proven, race-tested, global rear-wheel drive architecture that is the foundation for the Camaro, Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle and Holden's VF Commodore. The Chevrolet SS is powered by the LS3 Chevrolet V-8, expected to deliver 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Also used in the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette, the LS3 displaces 6.2 liters, more than the 5.5-liter V-8 powering the Chevrolet SS NASCAR competitors. The LS3 is married to a six-speed automatic transmission, which can be shifted manually using TAPshift paddles mounted on the steering wheel. With an aggressive 3.27 final-drive ratio, the Chevrolet SS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about five seconds -- making it one of the quickest sedans on the market. The 2014 Chevrolet SS will be available in the fourth quarter of 2013, with prices set closer to the on-sale date. When it arrives in showrooms, the SS will join the Corvette and Camaro, whose combined sales have made Chevrolet America's favorite performance brand for the last two years.

Gary & Pam Beineke built their 1971(G-Series) wingcars based upon results from a secret wind tunnel test report Chrysler had conducted in early 1970 on the new 71 Dodge and Plymouth B-bodies.
