During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the
vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel
economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach
you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed
fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership
yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique
differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it
would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion
with rev and Exhaust note with
interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car
designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Mercedes F 015 Luxury: auto-driving on the road
With the S-Class Intelligent Drive (http://youtu.be/H_-zWQD_sUc) and the
Future Truck 2025 (http://youtu.be/RIe9gSRBQTk), Mercedes-Benz has already
made the vision of autonomous driving become reality. The new research
vehicle F 015 Luxury in Motion has its world premiere at the Consumer
Electronics Show (CES 2015), and provides a concrete example of the
visionary ideas the company is developing with regard to autonomous driving
of the future. With this self-driving luxury saloon Mercedes-Benz
illustrates how the car is growing beyond its role as a mere means of
transport and will ultimately become a private retreating space. This new
way of travelling gives passengers the freedom to use their valuable time
on the road in manifold ways.
The high-strength body of the F 015 Luxury in Motion ensures optimum
safety and supreme comfort for its passengers. At the same time, the
bodyshell's structure provides the ideal basis for the door concept that
makes getting in and out especially easy, and for the
communication-oriented seating featuring four lounge chairs in a
New materials and structures were used to develop the highly efficient
"Smart Body Structure (SBS)" of the F 015. By cleverly combining
carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), aluminium and high-strength steels
in a way that matches the varying requirements exactly, the lightweight
engineering experts were able to make the bodyshell 40 percent lighter
compared with today's production vehicles.
As a foundation for creating the F 015 Luxury in Motion, experts from all
areas of Mercedes-Benz developed a future scenario entitled "City of the
Future 2030+", which considered many aspects of mobile living.
The greater the advance of urbanisation, the greater is the desire of the
individual to be able to retreat to a private sphere. Autonomous driving
will become a given.
As drivers are relieved of work and stress in situations in which driving
is not enjoyable, the time gained while in their car takes on a whole new
quality. Time and space will become the luxury of the future.
New technologies and forms of communication open up numerous new
possibilities for interaction, both between the vehicle and its passengers
and between the vehicle and other road users.
Autonomous cars also open up new possibilities for urban infrastructure
design. Following the example of today's low-emission zones in city
centres, special "safety zones" that are only accessible to autonomous
vehicles could be created. Urban space would be regained by autonomous
vehicles parking themselves on the periphery.
In the shared space of the future, humans and machines share the roads. The
"car-friendly city" is transformed increasingly into the "people-friendly
city" without any loss of individual freedom. The divide between
residential, recreational and traffic areas therefore melts away. The
result is superior quality of life for all urban dwellers.

A fast drive on the Autobahn A1 with a BMW 730d, Part 1: From Bremen to Hamburg
Since my Autobahn videos have become kind of a favourite to many visitors
of my channel, I decided to do a really nice, long and fast Autobahn run
(If you want to skip the speed-limited beginning, go directly to 11:10
So I chose to drive from a gas station west of Bremen to Hamburg, through
the Elbtunnel and back again to Wilhelmshaven. This video was taken on an
early Sunday morning, which means almost no traffic and hardly any trucks.
The car is a BMW 730d with 258 HP. I drove a distance of 340 kilometers in
roughly 110 minutes, which means an average speed of 185 km/h. This
resulted in a fuel consumption of 14.71 liters/100 km, or -- for our
American friends -- 16 MPG.
Considering it is a 2-ton car, that still had winter tyres mounted and that
it was a very windy day (as you can tell from the constant corrections of
the steering wheel), that is an okay result for a diesel, especially if you
bring to mind, that long stretches of road where done at 240 km/h -- which
by the way is perfectly legal in Germany.
The mounted winter tyres are limited to 240 km/h, so for safety reasons I
hardly exceeded that speed, even though the car is good for 255 on the
If you want to enjoy the German Autobahn like this, too, an early Sunday
morning -- starting at sunrise in the summer -- is the best time to do it.
That is about the only time, when you have enough space to really floor it.
The A1 from Bremen to Hamburg was recently reconditioned and expanded to 3
lanes per direction, which means the tarmac is less than a year old and
thus still very smooth and even. The newly-paved part begins at 10:05 min.
When there was a speed limited, I mostly used the radar-guided cruise
control. And if you wonder, why there is a speed limit of 120 km/h on a
perfectly fine three-lane Autobahn at the beginning of the video, it's
because of the state of Bremen. The Green Party is part of the government
there, which means for ideological reasons they implemented a general 120
km/h speed limit within the city limits of Bremen. But as soon as the
Autobahn goes into the state of Lower Saxony again, the speed limit is
On normal days it hardly matters, because traffic on the A1 is usually so
tight, that you cannot go faster
anyway. But on a Sunday morning joyride like this it really bothers.
This is a three-parter. Parts 2 (Hamburg to Bremen) and 3 (Delmenhorst to
Wilhelmshaven) will follow soon.
