2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Limited Start Up, Exhaust, and In Depth Tour
Many thanks to Bob Mayberry Hyundai in Monroe, NC for allowing me to make
this video! I forgot to do my usual dealer intro so I'm crediting in the
description. In this video I give a full in depth tour of the all new
274hp 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T. This particular one being a Limited. I
take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car
while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling
cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it,
start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough
tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall
appreciation of the vehicle.

Hyundai Takes Wraps Off 2012 Grandeur (Azera)
Back in November, Hyundai revealed a sketch of its upcoming 2012 Grandeur,
known as the Azera in the U.S. Now, we can bring you the first look of the
real thing thanks to a Hyundai promotional video and prelaunch site.
Rather unsurprisingly given Hyundai's recent design sketches, the
production 2012 Hyundai Grandeur is a dead-ringer for the sketches revealed
in November. And this is no bad thing as the Grandeur renderings were
rather striking, giving the Grandeur/Azera an upscale look befitting a car
far above the current Azera's starting price of just over $25,000.
The only notable changes we see are a slight redesign of the grille, toning
the styling down by making the edges slightly softer and the taillights.
Changes to the taillights are extremely minimal as the central portion is
now clear with wraparound brake lights rather than a u-shaped, clear,
central insert sandwiched by red brake lights.
In the video, Hyundai also reveals the interior for the first time, showing
what looks to be an extremely upscale cabin. We'll have to wait and see it
in person for ourselves to make a final judgment on materials, but given
our experiences with the new Sonata, we have high hopes.
Although the car shown here is technically the Korean market Grandeur, it
should be nearly identical to the U.S.-spec Azera. We'll reportedly see the
new Azera at the Chicago Auto Show in February. We're also curious about
exactly how Hyundai will position the Azera between the Sonata and Genesis
2013 Toyota Avalon Review and Road Test (with infotainment review)
The Avalon has been something of a caricature for Toyota since it wafted
onto the stage in 1994. The stretched Camry was low on soul, devoid of
style and soft of spring. In short, it was the Buick that wouldn't leave
you stranded. Since then Toyota has struggled to divine a mission for their
full size sedan, a problem complicated by the re-invigoration of the large
sedan market by the American brands. In hopes of resurrecting the Avalon's
sales numbers, which have slid to 25% of their 2000 year shipments, Toyota
has injected something hitherto unseen in an Avalon: style. Is it enough?
Before we dive right into the Avalon, it's important to cover the
competition. Back when the Chrysler LHS and Buick Park Avenue roamed the
land, the Avalon's competition was easy to identify. Nearly 20 years later
those customers are in a nursing home without a driver's license and Toyota
is looking for new hunting grounds (I can kid because I owned an LHS.) Now
we have the moderately successful Chrysler 300, the larger-than-ever
Taurus, a new Impala that doesn't make me want to put my eyes out and a
revised Hyundai Azera trying to beat Toyota at their own game.
But wait, I'm forgetting one. The "elephant in the room" that is the Lexus
ES 350. You see, the kind of shopper that needs a new car and immediately
thinks "Toyota Avalon" is far more likely to cross shop the Lexus ES than
the gangsta 300 or the Impala. After spending a week in the ES and the
Avalon fraternal twins back-to-back this comparison is even more valid.
Now in its fourth incarnation, the Avalon has finally developed a sense of
style. While the "I'm a bigger Camry" look is still going on, Toyotas has
managed to inject some creases and curves that made my 33 year old eyes
take a second look. It's not as visually exciting as the Chrysler 300, but
Toyota's styling efforts look better thought out than the Impala's 11/10ths
Cruze grille. Car makers love making their vehicles "instantly
identifiable" as a member of their brand. Translation: they make them all
look the same.
Thankfully Toyota ditched the Camry "quotation mark" shaped tail lamps for
a more elegant rear end treatment. The new rump features more chrome than
any other Toyota product, dual Exhaust
tips and tail lamps that wrap well around the side. The engineers stretched
the Avalon's greenhouse over the trunk to increase the visual length of the
car, a trick that worked on me until I looked at the spec sheet. At 195
inches, the Avalon is 6-inches longer than the Camry, but it's several
inches shorter than the Chrysler, Chevy and Ford. Since the ES and Avalon
are now twins separated at birth most of the dimensions are common except
that the Avalon gets a bigger booty (and more trunk space in the process)
and (oddly enough) has a lower ride height making it visually more

All New 2012 Hyundai Azera (5G Grandeur HG)
This the new generation Hyundai Azera will be its fifth generation. Intent
on raising its profile as well as its perception among consumers, the
exterior styling of the 2012 Hyundai Azera/Grandeur embodies a "Grand
Glide" styling flavor. Hyundai says the look is meant to reflect "a bird
gliding gracefully across the sky." To help foster that image, the 2012
Azera embodies a clean aero-wedge profile with more graceful, flowing
contours that are highlighted by a rising hoodline, more steeply raked
windshield and an even sleeker roof/side glass treatment. The bolder look
of its larger grille and more assertive fascia plus new headlamps and
foglamps impart additional presence up front while better-integrated LED
taillights bring a similar level of elegant flash to its rear quarters.
No word on powertrains for the 2012 Hyundai Azera, although it seems likely
the 3.3-liter and 3.8-liter V6 engines used in the current GLS and Limited
models will continue to provide motivation -- both teamed with Hyundai's
newly introduced six-speed automatic transmission that offers Shiftronic
manual control. Given Hyundai's stated desire to become a more affordable
alternative to both European and Japanese premium sedans, it's virtually
certain the 2012 Azera will offer an even longer list of upline standards
and high-tech options along with solid value pricing. The Azera is soon to
be available later this year.
