Karmann Ghia - Paint

5:30 am to 8:30 pm... 15 grueling hours of labor, no breaks, no food, tons of issues but it's over. I've given birth to a gecko green Karmann Ghia. Thanks to everyone for their help on this project. It means the world to me.

Karmann Ghia - First Fire of the 1915 Engine
I spent the entire day finalizing wiring, fuel delivery, cables and other odds and ends so I could get the ghia fired up for the first time with the new motor. LET ME TELL YOU... IT WAS WORTH EVERY SECOND!!!

Karmann Ghia - Wiring Harness Part 3

Driving my Karmann Ghia
The 1956 Karmann Ghia I own does get driven from time to time. I have friends who claim I 'never' drive it. This video shows that isn't the case.

Karmann Ghia sheet metal patch
Cutting, bending, and welding in a patch to smooth out a fresh air vent for a 1974 Karmann Ghia. Includes some hammering, mig welding and a bit of the english wheel. I have tons of pictures on my blog: http://www.1974kg.blogspot.com

Karmann Ghia - Sound Insulation Install
I was planning to install carpet today, started by installing the insulation and was suckered into completing the heating system... Bad news, no carpet got installed, good news, the duct work is complete and a few oddball items have been checked off the punch list.

My 1974 Karmann Ghia
This is my 1974 Ghia. It was a hunk of junk when I first purchased it. Five years later after taking it compleatly apart it's now my favorite toy. 87mm pistons too. The gauges on the dash are VDO, but I purchased three "BUS" fuel gauges from junkyards. I removed the chromes rings and installed them on the new VDOs. Now they match the originals on the dash.

VW Karmann Ghia - TMI Carpet Kit Install - Part 1
I made HUGE progress on the interior of the Karmann Ghia today. I got the heater channel "Y"s welded in, I got the kick panels made, I got the windlace (s) made, I got the windlace retainers striped and painted, I got the rear seat area covered in vinyl and I got a fair amount of the carpet kit from TMI installed.
