' Boxster S 981 vs. SLK 55 AMG vs. Z4 ' Sound-Battle - TheGetawayer
Which german roadster sounds the best ???
- This video is meant to show you why I wouldn't be able to pick a
favourite out of these three cars, which is one of the most popular
questions in the comments...All have their up- and downsides and are
amazing fun to drive. These Exhaust
sounds speak for themselves ...
- All cars had standard Exhaust
systems from the factory. The Boxster is not fitted with a PSE !
- I am aware of the fact that the SLK 55 has more than twice the horsepower and cubic
capacity of the Z4...This video is just about the sound.

Porsche invited me to drive the all new 2013 / 2014 Porsche 911 turbo S ( 991 ) at the Bilster Berg Driving Resort
with a group of other journalists. I was lucky enough to get a car for
myself, so I could film this review for you. Just as special as driving the
new turbo was meeting my idol Walter
Röhrl, who drove a new track-record with new turbo S on this track during the event ...

Road Test: 2013 Porsche Boxster S
When the Porsche Boxster debuted back in 1996, it was billed as a no
frills, two-seat roadster, and a less expensive alternative to the vaunted
911. Unfortunately, as the Boxster buyer matured, so did the car, out
growing its purest sports car roots by adding more and more of the luxury
features premium buyers now demand. So, while we welcome a third generation
Boxster, we wonder if it can still stir our driving senses. Here's
MotorWeek's road test review of the 2013 Porsche Boxster S.

Some people say the Boxster is a poor man's Porsche, but the new S model
puts that idea to rest -- it's as quick around Germany's infamous
Nurburgring circuit as the legendary 996 GT3.
It's not hard to see why. The Boxster S has one of the finest chassis of
any car, incredible brakes and a cracking 311bhp 3.4-litre flat
six-cylinder engine -- largely the same as the one found in the latest 911.
2013 Porsche Boxster, first drive at Barber Motorsports Park
The new Porsche Boxster is lighter and more fuel-efficient, faster and more agile.
With its all- new lightweight body design and completely revamped chassis,
the latest generation of the Boxster has raised the bar for Porsche
Intelligent Performance. Considerably lower weight, a longer wheelbase,
wider track, larger wheels and new electro-mechanical power steering help
significantly enhance the mid-engine sports car's driving dynamics -
already far and away the best in its class and now even better.
As an additional Boost to improve
driving dynamics, Porsche offers the Sport Chrono Package as an optional
extra for the Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first
time. Also new in the Boxster is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with
mechanical rear axle differential lock.
The new Boxster line up boasts superior performance and is up to 11 percent
more fuel- efficient. Each model boasts ultra-modern, direct fuel injection
and a flat six-cylinder boxer engine. All variants achieve at least 20 mpg
city, 28 mpg highway, and the Boxster with PDK even manages to achieve 22
mpg city and 32 mpg highway.
2013 Porsche Boxster S Track Test Drive & Sports Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/porsche/boxster/2013/?id=32972 The 2013 Porsche
Boxster S marks the 3rd generation for this mid-engine roadster. This
little convertible sports car not only looks great, but it also performs
better than anything else in the class. When most car companies launch a
new model they pick some posh location. Porsche decided to show off the new
2013 Boxster S by introducing the roadster at the Barber Motorsports Park
where journalists would have the opportunity to test the car on both the
track and the autocross course. The base price for the new Boxster S starts
The Porsche Boxster has a mid-engine design meaning the motor sits
somewhere between the front and rear axels. In this case the engine is
right behind the drive. This allows for favorable weight distribution and
more traction to the rear tires resulting in a better performing
automobile. The 2013 Porsche Boxster base model is powered by a 2.7 liter
6-cylinder engine. The S model tested here has a larger displacement engine
at 3.4 liters. This results in more power with the 2013 Boxster S making
315 horsepower and
266 lb-ft. f torque. This may not sound like much but the Boxster S is a
very light weight car at just under 3000 lbs. Transmission choices come
down to a 6-speed manual or high-tech PDK 7-speed automatic. Performance
figures are 0-60 MPH in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 172 MPH.
At the end of the day the Boxster is still a convertible and for this 2013
model Porsche made great strides to improve the automatic retractable top.
With one push of a button the top retracts in only 9 seconds plus you can
put the top down while driving. On the inside the stylish red leather
package looks like it belongs in a high end exotic car. The trim pieces are
perfectly integrated silver pieces. The 7-inch touch screen navigation unit
and BOSE surround sound system are more than enough for the techie out
there. Of course the 2013 Porsche Boxster S comes packed with tons of
luxury features and amenities on top of everything you would expect in a
luxury sports car.
Porsche has done a lot to improve the fuel economy of the Boxster since
more and more car buyers are looking into fuel efficient vehicles. The
chassis has been lightened thanks to a combination of metals like aluminum.
The PDK 7-speed transmission not only performs spectacularly but it also is
very fuel efficient. New for this model is an Auto Start/Stop function
which turns the car off while sitting stopped. This increases fuel economy
by a few MPG. Coast Technology lowers the engine RPM's while at highway
speed resulting in more gas savings. Fuel economy figures are estimated to
be at 21 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway which is awesome for a
car that can accelerate so quickly.

The 2012 Porsche Boxster S - /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS
Porsche's new 981 Boxster is an all-new design. Bigger, but lighter than
before. We went to the launch event in the South of France to see how good
it was. And whether a man can now buy the girl's Porsche.
2013 Porsche 981 Boxster S (315hp) - DRIVE & SOUND (1080p FULL HD)
Enjoy this pure Drive & Sound footage of the all new 2013 Porsche Boxster S
with its 3.4 flat six (315hp, 360Nm) and 7-speed PDK transmission, driven
hard on German autobahn and country roads. This particular car is equipped
with the optional Sport Chrono pack that allows a quicker acceleration,
even sharper gear changes and better throttle response in "Sport Plus"
mode. Technically the drivetrain and chasis are very similar to the new
2014 Cayman S and performance figues should be very close. I personally
found the ride a bit harsh, compared to the 991 Carrera S. But this sport
Exhaust system ist just awasome,
especially the downshifts in Sport Plus;-) Please make sure to LIKE /
