Falken takes on the 2011 Long Beach Grand Prix

Finishing just one place out of a podium spot in the hotly contested GT Class, Team Falken's Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, piloted by Porsche Works and team driver Wolf Henzler, and his partner, team driver Bryan Sellers, ran strong all afternoon on the challenging streets of Long Beach, and ended up 4th out of 14 GT entrants during the annual visit by the American LeMans Series to the Long Beach Grand Prix, one of the most prestigious street races in the world, now in its 37th year.

Team Falken Chooses the Petit Le Mans as the Ultimate Proving Ground
Team Falken and its Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, along with drivers Bryan Sellers and Dominic Cicero, will return to the ALMS battleground in the highly competitive GT2 class for the demanding 1,000-mile, 10-hour race spectacle known as Petit Le Mans. Falken Tires served notice early last year ago that it intended to capture the dynamism found within ALMS and use it to help build a higher profile of the engineering prowess and strength of the companys performance tires. We are eagerly awaiting the chance to compete again in the ALMS, said Andrew Hoit, Falken Tires Director of Marketing. Petit Le Mans is a very competitive, grueling event, and one we feel is a perfect forum for the return of our team and our product. Team Falken has spent the time between our last race and the upcoming event at Road Atlanta testing, as we are determined to have the right mixture of car, driver and tire compound for Petit Le Mans, added Rod Everett, Team Manager. We want to show that our time away from the series was well spent, particularly as we refined our specially fabricated Falken Azenis RT Slick. Painted in Falkens traditional teal and blue livery, the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will again be sponsored by Cleveland Golf of Huntington Beach, CA, a force on the PGA tour. Both companies pursue similar goals of longevity and durability and the marketing opportunities mesh well. This is an important race for us, said Nick Fousekis, Senior Consumer Marketing Manager, Falken Tire. Its a tough class to compete in, but we are confident we will put forth a very strong effort and help generate more attention on our products. For Team Falken, preparation for both Petit Le Mans and next season has been a full-year commitment, as the team sets its goals on a championship run in 2010.

Final Fight at 2010 Formula Drift Irwindale
FONTANA, CA -- After finishing second in the "Title Fight" at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, CA, Formula Drift's final event of the year, Team Falken's Vaughn Gittin Jr., driver of the Monster Energy/Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang, became the Formula D Champion of the 2010 season.

It was the 11th podium finish for Team Falken in seven Formula D races, a season in which the tire company's factory-supported teams dominated all year long. Falken placed first in five of the seven events.

Three Team Falken drivers were in the top five in the final standings. Total points between the top five drivers were close, but Gittin Jr. was clearly the favorite after taking two wins in the six races leading up to the Title Fight. He finished the season with 632 points. Irwindale winner Tanner Foust eventually finished second in the standings at 568.5, and Team Falken Driver Daijiro Yoshihara ended up fourth overall, just one point behind third place Ryan Tuerck. Team Falken Driver Darren McNamara took fifth. "This was Jr.'s year plain and simple, said Jonathan Bradford, Falken's Drift Team Supervisor. "There is a lot to be said about finishing on the podium six out of seven events this year. It was a pleasure to be involved with a team that left everything on the track and drove with an all-in attitude. We have successfully rewritten the record books and I would like to personally thank the fans that rooted for Falken throughout this unbelievable season." "Our team's success would not be possible without the support, hard work and dedication of our two fabrication/engineering facilities, Autosport Dynamics (ASD) in Charlotte, NC and SPD Metalworks in Anaheim, CA," added Nick Fousekis, Senior Manager, Consumer Marketing. "I'd also like to thank all of the sponsors, including our newest, Monster Energy, for their faith in Falken's program. Last but certainly not least, we thank the fans of drifting. Without you, the sport would not have grown into that it is today." The Irwindale event started off well, as Falken's Darren McNamara qualified first, followed by Yoshihara in third. Gittin Jr. was sixth. Both McNamara and Gittin Jr. made it to the Top 4, but McNamara lost a chance to take a podium when he spun out in the battle for third place. "On behalf of everyone at Falken Tire, we wish to express our best wishes to Vaughn," said Andrew Hoit, Falken Director of Marketing. "This was a great season for Falken, and we entertained close to 500 guests over the weekend at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. I'd also like to salute the efforts of our other team members: Dai Yoshihara; Darren McNamara; Tyler McQuarrie [who finished 8th in the standings]; and Justin Pawlak [who finished 11th]; as well as our privateers, all of whom, like the factory teams, competed on Falken Azenis RT-615K tires: Fredric Aasbo [13th]; Ross Petty [19th]; "Mad" Mike Whiddett [21st]; James Deane [24th]; and Dean Kearney, who came from Ireland. Their participation successfully enhanced our overall effort, and we'll all join the celebration."

Drifting takes competitive motorsports to the extreme, and has successfully attracted strong crowds, loyal fans and car enthusiasts from all walks of life. Falken quickly realized how popular and demanding this format would become, and since 2003, has been a solid fixture within the sport. The focus is on skill and precision driving, as competitors in specially prepared, high-powered vehicles intentionally execute controlled sideways slides at high speeds through a marked course.

2010 24H of Nürburgring - Falken Tyre Takes 3rd in Class
Nürburg, Germany -- With nearly 250 cars participating in the annual 24 Hours of Nürburgring (officially the ADAC 24h Rennen Nürburgring), Falken Tire, an international force within the high performance tire category, took third place in its class and finished 12th overall. The Nissan 350Z (Z33; official designation: Version NISMO Type 380RS-Competition) was entered by Falken Motorsports Japan, and was driven by the same quartet of drivers who have represented Falken for the past four years -- veterans Peter Dumbreck, Dirk Schoysma, Tetsuya Tanaka and Kazuki Hoshino. The 24 Hours of Nürburgring is a touring car and GT endurance event on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. With a lap length of more than 15.5 mi, it is a grueling event, though it attracts multiple factory entries and over 700 drivers. Falken competes in motorsports events throughout the world, running race versions of its street tires with factory and privateer entries to great success. The team of Falken drivers produced a strong performance, finishing further up the leader board than the 2009 race, while competing against an increased number of manufacturer entries, including a Porsche 911 GT3 Hybrid, which outlasted many entries on fuel runs. While cold weather plagued the teams throughout the event, Falken Motorsports' spirited Nissan, running on Falken Azenis, withstood the elements and survived without serious mechanical gremlins, which plagued a number of other teams.

Falken Tire Unveils Factory ALMS Team at Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA Fontana, CA-based Falken Tire, well regarded for its high performance tires, officially entered the 2009 American Le Mans Series highly competitive GT2 class by competing at Long Beach with its in-house-prepared Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The car was driven by veterans Dominic Cicero and Bryan Sellers and ran on specially prepared Falken AZENIS RT slicks. Qualified in eighth position by Sellers, the Team Falken Tire RSR ran within a second of the race podium-winning #92 BMW car, a considerable accomplishment for a brand new team and tire that has never previously experienced the unforgiving Long Beach street course. The Porsche moved to seventh on the grid after the pole-winning car was sent to the rear for a ride height infraction. Sellers started the race, but reported shifting problems early on. He continued to nurse the car for 30 laps, maintaining his position of seventh, but eventually had to retire the Porsche. The team finished 20th overall and 12th in class. The car was extremely consistent for a long time, Sellers said. I was able to run a steady pace for the whole stint never dropping off more than four-tenths of a lap until we had transmission problems. Co-driver Cicero agreed: The tires were consistent and held up very well in our practices. We feel we have a great product for the 2010 season. Despite our race difficulties, our drivers were very happy with the Falken Azenis RT slicks, added Stephen Mitchell, Falkens Motorsports Manager. The team worked very well together for being our first race. Weve done a lot of testing, but this was a good experience under extreme pressure, stated Rod Everett, Falken team manager. We noticed vibration on very high speed during practice on Friday, and we pulled the transmission and examined it. Its a shame that we finished where we did, but thats racing. Well learn from this, move forward and do better next time. Long Beach also saw the debut of Falkens new tire team booth with a constant flow of traffic to the Falken paddock Friday and Saturday. Falken awarded a specially designed Falken collectible guitar to Tom Crowe as part of its at-track promotional efforts. The Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is painted in traditional Falken teal and blue livery, now highlighted by its new sponsor, Cleveland Golf of Huntington Beach, CA. Cleveland Golf, a force on the PGA tour, embraces many of the same product development ideologies which Falken Tire Corporation applies to their Azenis RT Slick tires used for ALMS competition. The American Le Mans is an excellent series and the perfect platform for Falken to demonstrate the strength and capabilities of our technology and capabilities, noted Andrew Hoit, Director of Marketing, Falken Tire. The competition this year is extremely tough, and we knew that going in, because we wanted to be able to challenge the factory teams as well as the privateers and our competitors, the other tire manufacturers. Were running a shorter season this year, in preparation for a full assault in 2010. The Falken Tire/Cleveland Golf team will next compete at Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in September. Part 1 - Drift Hungarian Open & King of Europe, 22nd & 23rd August 2009. Máriapócs, Hungary
The RabócsiRing is Hungary's most modern and also most visited racetrack. The track is unique. Technical, full throttle and so close to the crowds as nowhere else to drift! The longitude is 910 meters, width between 10 and16 meters. On the race, 5 corners will be under valuation, the 4th and 5th is a left turn with three angles, and the surface has an angle too, like oval tracks.
