1979 Pontiac Trans Am 6.6 Liter V8
I thought you'd like a look at this beautiful 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. The
black paint on this car is nearly flawless...it truly has a mirror-like
finish. Under the hood, you'll find the big 6.6 Liter, 403 Cubic Inch V8.
The engine has been painted in the correct factory color and really looks
immaculate. Inside, the black vinyl interior looks outstanding as well.
This is one of the nicest Trans Am's that I've seen in a while. I hope you

All original from its Hurst T-tops down to its factory Exhaust and white letter tires, this completely
documented 16,800 mile 1978 Trans Am Special Edition has been stored in a
climate controlled facility all of its life and has all the right stuff you
have been looking for.
Assembled at GM's Norwood Ohio manufacturing facility in December of 1977,
this pristine Special Edition Trans Am was delivered to Hansord Pontiac
Company in Minneapolis Minnesota and purchased on January 10th 1978 by the
same dedicated owner that would keep it for close to 33 years. Today, the
car presents as practically brand new with a spectacular coat of original
GM code 19 Starlight Black paint that covers 100% original body panels
which are as solid and straight as the day they left the showroom floor.
Under the hood you'll find this Trans Ams all original 6.6 liter W72 V8
which was the largest muscle car engine you could buy in 1978. Thanks to
government mandated emissions standards, performance had almost been
legislated out of existence, and that left the Trans Am suffering a bit of
an identity crisis. By utilizing smaller "6X" heads from a 350 and a
revised camshaft, the W72 created higher compression and successfully
reversed almost a decade of declining horsepower numbers. At the
top of the motor, an original Rochester 4 barrel carburetor sits under the
cars awesome shaker scoop. Below that carburetor, original GM corporate
blue paint coats the entire block and original Exhaust manifolds send Exhaust into a high performance factory Exhaust system. All the hard parts around the
motor, from the belt driven accessories to the brake Booster and air conditioning hanging on the
fire wall are factory original; and as expected tags, markings and stamps
are just where they should be from the date coded core support to the gold
painted cowl tag.
At the bottom of this Trans Am, a solid and clean all original
undercarriage tells the story of years of excellent maintenance and low
miles. Behind the motor, an original turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed automatic
transmission sends power to the cars original 10 bolt rear end which still
retains its original metal maintenance tag. The original Trans Am
suspension, which includes power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks
and stiffer springs combines with power front disc brakes and rear drums to
provide quick stops and great handling. The car even still carries its
ORIGINAL power Boosting dual Exhaust system which barks out a deep vintage
sound that most modern Flowmaster and Dynomax mufflers simply can't
duplicate. All of the cars hardware and bushings appear to be in good shape
and out back, a new stainless fuel tank is solid and leak free. At the
corners, original aluminum Pontiac snow flake wheels wear the cars ORIGINAL
225/70 Uniroyal White Letter tires and are adorned with Special Edition
exclusive gold paint and 'gold bird' center caps.
Open this Trans Ams massive black doors and you'll find the cars original
optional velour interior that sports Special Edition exclusive gold trim.
The cars original seats are firm, crisp and look every bit as nice and rich
as their velour name implies. Below the seats, the cars black carpet which
has been carefully protected by factory rubber floor mats, displays no
fading or unraveling at all. Between the seats a silver trimmed black
console houses a storage bin behind the cars automatic shifter, and above
the seats, a stain free headliner is stretched tight around the cars Hurst
T-tops. In front of the driver, an excellent looking engine turned gold
dash houses crystal clear gauges above controls for heat and air
conditioning and the cars original Delco-GM AM/FM stereo. At the sides of
the seats, pitch black door panels feature pristine stainless and chrome
handles for both the doors and windows. Connecting the driver to the road
is a correct gold steering wheel with a black rim and a correct gold
screaming chicken horn button that perfectly matches the cars correct gold
screaming chicken shift knob.
If you're in the market for a kick ass Trans Am that is the quintessential
