2015 Lincoln MKC Reveal
Lincoln recently invited a select group of media to attend an exclusive
reveal of their next all-new small premium utility vehicle. The 2015 MKC is
the latest entry into the fastest-growing luxury automotive segment in
America. The reveal took place at ESPACE in New York and was an opportunity
for media to experience the new vehicle up-close and speak directly with
Lincoln executives including Jim Farley.

We look at the 2014 Lincoln MKC concept which is pretty much a hint of
things to come from Lincoln. The Lincoln MKC was unveiled at the 2013 North
American International Auto Show in Detroit. The MKZ was also on display at
the Lincoln booth, but the MKS, MKX, and MKT were no where to be seen. The
price and features should be comparable to its potential competitors such
as the BMW X1 and the Infiniti QX50 (formerly EX).
► All-New 2015 Lincoln MKC unveiled
The all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC small premium utility, unveiled earlier today,
adds a key new option to The Lincoln Motor Company lineup of premium
vehicles, an available all-new engine - a 2.3-liter EcoBoost®turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant.
The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder
offers best-in-class performance even when measured against competitors'
six-cylinder engines. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost offers projected best-in-class horsepower per liter and
best-in-class torque per liter, generating 275 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and
300 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm, according to preliminary test data.
The 2.0-liter EcoBoost, standard on
MKC, generates 240 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and
270 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm, according to preliminary test data.
The 2.3-liter EcoBoost was
specifically engineered for higher performance. Two factors pivotal to the
success of the newest entry in the benchmark EcoBoost engine lineup are a three-port
integrated Exhaust manifold cylinder
head and a twin-scroll turbocharger.
The Exhaust flows from the inner and
outer pairs of cylinders are kept separate as they go through the three
ports into the two scrolls of the turbocharger. Separating the Exhaust pulses until they hit the turbine wheel
minimizes the backflow into the next cylinder that fires, preserving energy
to help spin up the turbo.
turbo lag is virtually eliminated for
quicker response when the driver needs power for passing while enabling the
Exhaust valve to stay open longer for
lower emissions and up to 15 percent better fuel economy than comparable
Production of the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC will begin in the second quarter
of 2014 at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Louisville, Ky. Vehicles will
begin arriving to Lincoln dealerships next summer.

2013 LINCOLN MKZ REVIEW and TEST DRIVE
This is part one of my 2013 MKZ review.
#1 The car is elegant - although polarizing
#2 The interior is a definite upgrade over the new 2013 Fusion
#3 The technology/comfort package is full featured with an auto open/close
trunk and massive panoramic roof.
#4 The car can virtually STEER ITSELF on long highway drives thanks to the
combination of lane keeping assist and radar cruise control.
#1 This thing costs $49,000 with all the options...
#2...and a SLOW ASS 2.0 EcoBoost
#3...and the 3.5-L EcoBoost which IT
NEEDS isn't optional...
#4...and the moonroof makes it hard to see out the back...
#5...and the plasti-touch panels aren't that great in a car this
