Peugeot 106 Engine Service
Servicing a 2002 Peugeot 106 1.1 Independence with a TU1JP Injected engine. The car is one i am repairing as it was bought damaged, it has 43,000 miles and although there is an entry in the service history book at 15 and 30,000 miles the last service was in 2007 so the car has done very little since then it needed a service. The things done in this video are: - Engine oil flushed, then then drained, with a new oil filter fitted - Gearbox oil filled after the oil had drained out when the drivehshaft was removed - Air filter replaced - Spark plugs replaced with NGK spark plugs the same as the ones which were removed - Fuel filter replaced I also did the pollen filter, but thats a tricky job and not worth the effort, i will make a video separately about the pollen filter. Apart from the pollen filter the 106 is an easy car to service, parts are cheap and it seems to be a bit livelier after getting the old oil flushed out. The timing belt will also be changed soon, its getting close to the mileage for a timing belt and the car is still on its original belt which is 10 years old.





Peugeot 106 Timing Belt Replacement
Changing the timing belt on a 2002 Peugeot 106 1.1 independence with the TU1J5 fuel injected engine. This car has still less than 50,000 miles but i think that is close to the recommended interval, and there is also the fact that the timing belt itself is original and about 12 years old so it is a good time to change it. This is a fairly easy timing belt to change helped by the fact the car has a spring loaded tensioner so there is no need to guess what tension the belt should be at, and no worries that you can't find the mysterious SEEM measuring tool that is mentioned in the haynes manual. (If it had a manual tensioner you just have to tension the belt by hand which takes a bit of experience but the SEEM machine is not needed) In addition to that this engine is a simple single camshaft 8v engine, so less things to mark the position of. As for marking the position of the crank and camshaft before removing the belt, i chose just to mark these parts with a marker instead of removing the starter and locking the crankshaft via the flywheel, i did the locking the starter via flywheel in other videos and got plenty of comments asking if it was necessary, so here i just marked the positions instead. Initially i had the intention of using the Haynes manual and quoting the torque for the different nuts and bolts but after the water pump bolt broke i decided not to bother and just tighten the bolts up by feel. I think my draper 3/8 torque wrench was out of calibration which caused it to snap the bolt, so if you have a torque wrench which is correctly calibrated then take a look in the Haynes manual. Take care when changing the timing belt, its a job which must be down correctly if done wrong it has the potential to ruin the engine so if in any doubt take the car to a mechanic to change the belt instead.





Essai Renault Espace 1.6 dCi 160 EDC6 Intens 2015
Evènement chez Renault avec l'arrivée de la 5e génération d'Espace. Le nouveau venu est aussi long que l'ancien Grand Espace mais beaucoup plus bas avec 1,68 m au garrot, soit 13 cm de moins. Le nouvel Espace change tout, y compris en équipements et motorisations. Il reçoit en série les feux avant full LED. Notre modèle d'essai inaugure un 1,6 l diesel de 160 ch avec boîte EDC et 4 roues directrices. A l'intérieur, la planche de bord inédite accueille au centre un écran central tactile de 9 pouces qui commande toutes les fonctions de la voiture, y compris les assistances à la conduite enfin à la page ou les différents mode de conduite, façon Drive Select d'Audi. L'ergonomie est correcte et la réactivité de l'écran est agréable. La qualité globale est en hausse malgré quelques détails à peaufiner. Contact et le diesel se montre très discret et souple. L'association avec la boîte EDC fonctionne bien mais privilégie la douceur, quitte à décevoir pour les relances. Idem pour la partie châssis : cet Espace soigne ses occupants par son niveau de confort. Mais si les 4 roues directrices n'arrivent pas à lui donner une véritable agilité, il se montre à l'aise sur petites routes et dynamique pour un monospace. A l'arrière, on retrouve les sièges individuels coulissants, mais ils ne sont plus amovibles : ils s'escamotent désormais dans le plancher. L'habitabilité est excellente mais la garde au toit baisse sensiblement par rapport à la génération précédente. Les passagers arrière bénéficient de leur propre réglage de clim et de prises USB. L'accès aux places du fond se fait en basculant les sièges comme ceci. Les places du fond sont en option à 1500 €. Elles nécessitent impérativement d'avancer partiellement les sièges de rang 2. Elles sont moins accueillantes que celles d'un Sharan, mais plus que celles d'un S-Max. Nous avons estimé le coffre à 600 dm3 en configuration 5 places : c'est nettement moins que dans l'Espace 4 mais ici, il n'y a pas besoin de laisser les sièges dans votre garage quand vous avez besoin de volume. Côté consommations, ce nouvel Espace fait beaucoup mieux que l'ancien et vient se placer parmi les meilleurs de la catégorie. Idem pour le prix, impressionnant de prime abord avec plus de 40000 € mais finalement abordable vu l'équipement pléthorique sur notre version d'essai. Reste à savoir si les habitués des Espaces précédents ne seront pas trop déroutés par cette nouvelle mouture, très différente.
