XTRONIC CVT in the 2013 Nissan Altima | AutoMotoTV
SUBSCRIBE for daily car videos! http://vid.io/xkQ Subscribe for more car videos: http://bit.ly/15DV2NN Next-generation XTRONIC CVT® Nissan first adopted the Continuously Variable Transmission in 1992, then refreshed and modernized it a decade later, becoming one of the world's first automotive manufacturers to include the CVT on passenger cars. Now, 10 years on again, they've taken it to another level. The 2013 Nissan Altima will be the first Nissan with the next-generation XTRONIC CVT. The dramatically improved technology achieves a significant 15% increase in fuel efficiency, accelerates faster, runs quieter and offers an even more seamless shifting experience. How does it do this? By giving it the world's highest transmission ratio and also reducing the transmission's weight, length, friction, and even the amount of transmission fluid needed. The transmission ratio is 7.3:1, which is a broader ratio than you'll find in an average automatic, and far superior to the 6.0:1 you'd find in a similar model vehicle. Intelligent CVT Logic ensures that the transmission is always in the right gear, which eliminates any wasteful gear hunting. The expanded gear ratio also reduces engine revolutions drastically, allowing the Altima to cruise at 60 miles per hour at fewer than 1500 RPMs. The benefits of lower RPMs are obvious -- better fuel efficiency and a noticeably quieter ride. So, what does all this mean for the driver? Efficiency: up to 15% increase in fuel efficiency. Performance: it delivers absolutely seamless performance and alleviates many of the concerns that drivers held about earlier CVT's. Quiet: the higher-efficiency and 40% reduction in friction allows the car to perform at higher speeds at very low RPMs, practically eliminating all noise from the transmission. 2013 Ford Fusion vs Nissan Altima 0-60 MPH Mile High Matchup Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The new 2013 Ford Fusion and the new 2013 Nissan Altima directly compete for the same car buyer. They are both four door mid-sized family sedans that have gotten bigger for 2013. They both get the exact same EPA MPG but that is where the similarities end. The Fusion we tested has a turbo-charged ecoBoost 4 cylinder engine mated to a traditional 6-speed transmission and all-wheel-drive. While the Nissan Altima gets a bigger 6-cylinder mated to a CVT transmission. In another fun and informative 0-60 MPH TFLcar review, we compare both cars to see not only which one is faster but which one it the better buy.

2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV Test Drive Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/nissan/altima/2015/?id=32972 The Altima’s fifth generation design is officially 3 years old and this car competes in one of the largest segments in the industry: the mid-size sedan segment. Nissan holds its own by providing everything that a buyer is looking for at this level: spacious interior, large trunk, fuel economy, and lots of modern technology. Basically it’s everything you need in a modern passenger car. The 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV has a base price of $24,720. Overall the Altima is a sleek car with some interesting style points but at the end of the day it still looks similar to other cars in this category. The engine is a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder that makes 182 horsepower and the CVT combines to get 27 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. On the inside the Altima may be at the top of the list when it comes to comfort. If you are the type of person who just wants something cheap, roomy, and reliable to go back-and-forth to work then the Altima is the perfect car. As a bonus the Altima has excellent crash scores.
