Hello all.
After a successful fire up at Ricky's Dragster Garage, the boys packed up the beast and headed for Barona Raceway. During the filming of the practice session it was hard not to flash back on the racing history of Tommy "The Watchdog" Allen. Tommy, I'm sure was thinking about his days (and nights) in front of thousands of drag racing fans as he flew down the strip and fought hard for the honor of being "Top Eliminator". The examples of track photos taken back in the day, that are added to the video from great track photographers like Jere Alhadef, Ron Lahr, and Dave Lundeen, are just a small sample of all that golden age drag racing was about. And Tommy Allen was right in the heart of it.

Ricky's Dragster Garage 4 Magicar Warmup at Herbert's
It's about 11:00 a.m. on the day of the Herbert Racing Equipment shop party. A variety of Cackle Cars were on display and made fire ups during the middle of the day. Here the Magicar with my daughter Kiersten in the seat is brought to life by Rick MacDonald. Ricky has been running the car on alcohol for a few moments and then makes the easily seen switch to a healthy load of nitro. Once again, the Magicar hasn't been apart for about 5 years. She's running with no oil filter and bearings that are dated from 1971. The reason there's no problem with this is "no load". The car simply idles and gets rev'd up once and a while. Then there's the occasional push start and that's the extent of its performance life these days. So once you get a cackle car assembled, hopefully all will go well, and it will be a relatively inexpensive show for many years. But the tear down is just around the corner so stay tuned for periodic checks on the progress of the Magicar rebuild. And if you've got the itch and want to acquire your own piece of drag racing history and join in on the fun, give Ricky a call at his Pro Air shop in Escondido, Cal, at (760) 747-5399. Thanks again for watching.

Ricky's Dragster Garage 5 "Trick Car" is coming together.
Ricky and the boys are hard at work reassembling the recreation of one of Woody Gilmore's famed "Trick Cars". There were only two every built and both were crashed out, but one of the original pilots, Tommy "The Watchdog" Allen is on a mission to totally recreate the car he drove in 1967. The car was driven by some of drag racing's greats. Travel along with us as we watch the boys bring her back to life. Rick MacDonald is the man behind the motor and other aspects of the recreation and his shop is located in Escondido, California. Should you want to consider a project such as the one shown, give Rick a call and he'll help guide you in the right direction. (760)747-5399. That's all for now. Stay tuned for another exciting episode of "Ricky's Dragster Garage".

Cackle cars get their tune up at Rick MacDonald's Dragster Garage. Rick, of Pro Air, in Escondido, California,(760) 747-5399, can really make 'um thump. First is the Magicar AA/FD. The old girl has been apart in 5 years and still rocks things pretty good. Next is the Trick Car of Tommy The Watchdog Allen. This car is freshly assembled and is started first on straight alcohol then is switched over to a load of 90 percent nitro methane. A big thanks to Mike Kuhl for helping with parts and tune up advise.

It's time for our "moment of glory". Ricky, Jeep Hampshire, and the rest of the Magicar crew gather up and we take our place in line for the one and only Cacklefest at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield California. What a great way to spend your evening IF you absolutely dig the cars and stars of drag racing's "Golden Age". How does it go? Take a look.
Ricky's Dragster Garage 2
At Ricky's Dragster Garage, driving controls are very important in any race car and this short video shows Rick in the Trick Car getting ready for push start practice later this week. He's thinking the car fits him perfect. The Watch Dog agrees.

Wow!
A virgin 392 Chrysler hemi shows up at Ricky's Dragster Garage! Things are moving now for "Nanook", a "AA/FA" from drag racing's past. Its owner is anxious to get the car on the cackle circuit and Ricky is charged with making it right. The old hemi in the car tells a powerful tale of the rigors of hard alcohol racing. So there's no choice but to build another bullet.
If you're looking for help with an old racing vehicle, maybe Rick can help.
His phone number is (760) 747-5399. He's out of Escondido, California.
That's all for now. Stay tuned.
