Our 1953 3 fold rag top was found in a horrendous state, having been exposed to the elements for years. The floorpan consists mostly of fibreglass patches, the heater channels are non existent, the wings were hacked as was the rear H valance. It was decided that we would cut the roof off at the waistline, instead of just the sunroof clip, to transplant onto a another early roof damaged oval. Some other parts were saved: doors, W decklid, dashboard, switches etc. Watch as we take the roof off over the period of an hour. Oval Window Beetles - BugsVille Large Collection and Barn Finds
BugsVille was a place of wonder and was by far the largest collection of Oval Window Bugs most have seen in one place. The place was nick named Bugsville because there were so many VW's, and in one photo I took I counted 22, most of which were Oval Windows. It was located in Southwestern Ontario Canada just outside Tillsonburg before the car crushers came in and squashed them all. This is just such a waste of history to have them rust away then ultimately be destroyed. If anyone has any more photos or stories about this place let me know as I would love to see and hear about it! These photos are at least 12 years old now and I thought it was time to put them in a video.

Destroying a junk beetle
To all of you out there that got upset over this video: Have a sense of humor. This beetle was badly rusted. It wasn't a rare year. It was simply chopped up and used for scrap metal and parts. We just figured we'd have a little fun and make a video, PRETENDING to turn it in to a convertible.
