Scion FR-S Test Drive & Driving Impressions
Experience the new Scion FR-S from the driver's seat.
I took a test drive the other day and filmed my impressions so my
girlfriend could get a feel for the car. She just got her wisdom teeth
taken out and wasn't in any shape to go on a test drive so I came to her
rescue and made this video of the experience.
Shameless plug: If you're local, around SE Michigan, be sure to ask for
Jamar Daniels at Victory Toyota of Canton, MI for information &
availability on the Scion FR-S. Had a great experience with him, he was
very helpful and generous with his time.
1. It has four wheels, which seemed very round when I inspected them.
2. Doors with which to enter and leave the car (you don't have to enter
through the windows or the top or bottom of the vehicle)
3. While driving the car, there is a round knob (though not as round as the
wheels) that controls the wind inside the car. The wind can be a mild
breeze, or a vicious tsunami blowing from little holes in the front
console. It can be cool or warm, and you can direct the wind. It makes you
feel very powerful.
4. There is also another button that lets you listen to people talking and
singing in the car, I believe Jamar called this a radio. This device only
allows for listening, and is therefore a one-way conversation. I tried
talking back to the people in the "radio" and they either couldn't hear me
or didn't feel like responding. I imagine they have a lot of people trying
to talk to them through the "radio." If you don't have a lot of friends and
want someone who never stops talking, this radio device is probably a good
thing for you to order.
5. The cloth seats have a red stripe on them. I assume that this is
probably from the animal's skin that was used to make them. The red stripe
tells me that the animal was fierce and vicious, trying to warn its
predators of it's danger with a warning color, much like bees and the
yellow jackets they wear. However, it mustn't have been a match for the
Scion hunters, as I hear many FR-S's are filled with seats made from this
In short, the FR-S makes me feel like an ancient hunting warrior that can
control wind, talk to spirits, and chase down fast dangerous animals.
Enjoy the video, I hope you find it helpful in your quest of filling the
empty void in your heart with a lightweight rear wheel drive sports coupe.

Scion is a brand of vehicles produced by Toyota Motor Corporation for the
North American market. Founded in 2002, Scion was introduced at the New
York Auto Show to appeal to Generation Y consumers. The first Scion models,
the xA hatchback and xB wagon, went on sale in California in 2003, followed
by a sports coupe, the tC, and a nationwide U.S. launch in 2004.
A successor to the xA, the xD, premiered in 2008, and the Scion marque
expanded to Canada in 2010. Scion currently has five models: the tC, xB,
iQ, xD, and the FR-S. The Scion name, meaning the descendant of a family or
heir, refers both to the brand's cars and their owners.

86FEST Import Car Show Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota AE-86 @ Fontana Auto Club Speedway
http://www.autobytel.com/scion/fr-s/2013/?id=32972 Autobytel's own FR-S
fanatic T.J. Keon was recently invited out to Auto Club Speedway in
Fontana, CA for the first ever 86FEST, a gathering and celebration of all
things Toyobaru and pays homage to the original AE-86 with everything from
a car show to on track activities.
We were fortunate enough to catch up with the man who loves little red
Hachis more than anyone else, Antonio Alvendia, from Cipher Garage and
MotorMavens.com and is responsible for 86FEST. Scion Racing driver Ken
Gushi was also on hand to talk about drifting as well as daily driving an
FR-S after signing a few autographs and smoking a few sets of tires.
Finally we were able to catch up with Speedhunter Larry Chen where the
Drift Photo aficionado shared a story of a very special Hachi Roku with
only 48 original kilometers that had been kept in a basement for the past
25 years he found on a recent trip to Belgium.

2013 Scion FRS x2 @ Dealership
I was driving past my local Toyota/Scion Dealership and I saw these 2 cars
unloading off of the trailer. After I came back from a photo/video shoot I
didt earlier in the day, I stopped at the dealership to see the white one
still in the used car lot and took a video and a few pictures of the car.
I then went across the street to record the red FRS. I really hope to see
a lot more of these out on the road this year and maybe a ride or two in
Thanks for watching!
