2015 Mercedes Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo - Concept Car
Take a look at the making of the Mercedes-Benz AMG showcar with no
Mercedes-Benz team put in a lot of work to make a sketch into a reality.
Passion is what drives car design.
The mystery concept car Mercedes-Benz has been teasing for the past couple
of days has turned out to be this stunning supercar concept, designed for
the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 video game. It's called the "AMG Vision Gran
Turismo", and according to Mercedes it presents a vision for the supercar
of tomorrow. From the video game to the studio to the live debut at the
2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, the new conceptual supercar turns heads with
its sleek, futuristic curves.
CHECK OUT: 2014 MINI Cooper Revealed
The project was actually started because of a challenge put forward by Gran
Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. He asked design studios from all across
the globe to come up with a concept using the theme "Vision Gran Turismo".
A handful of these, including the AMG Vision Gran Turismo, were selected to
be transferred to the virtual world where they will be available in Gran
Turismo 6 through online updates.
But for Mercedes, the challenge was also an opportunity to explore future
design. For the German automaker, future design looks to contain extreme
proportions, sensual contours and a high-tech quality. Signature styling
elements for the brand are also present, including a long hood, compact
greenhouse and broad shoulders.

The cabin's design continues the raw, performance theme; in fact, it has
been inspired by a Formula One race car's cockpit. It's said to feature a
pair of bright red sport seats that form part of the structure. The
dashboard has been designed in the form of two gullwing doors which are
positioned on each side of the steering column. As a result the actual
doors themselves, also gullwings, appear to be an extension of the
instrument panel. Finally, the steering column visibly penetrates the
firewall to the engine compartment, creating a visual connection between
the driver and the heart of this supercar, a hand-built AMG V-8.
The engine delivers a claimed 577 horsepower and 590
pound-feet of torque, which is the same rating as the twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8 in the latest S63 AMG.
However, on the concept, the Exhaust
gasses exit from eight individual tail-pipes. And just for Gran Turismo 6,
AMG's sound specialists have created a powerful, sonorous Exhaust note.
Performance should be scintillating given the fact that the concept weighs
just 3,053 pounds, made possible due to its lightweight aluminum spaceframe
structure which also incorporates plenty of carbon fiber.

Handling the design of the concept was a team of designers made up of staff
based at Mercedes styling studios in Sindelfingen, Germany as well as in
Como, Italy and Carlsbad, California. The world debut of the concept took
place this weekend at the opening of a new Mercedes R&D center located in
Sunnyvale, also in California.
When might we see a design similar to that of the AMG Vision Gran Turismo
on a production Mercedes? The automaker's upcoming sports car, the 2015 AMG
GT, already appears to share some similarities with the striking concept,
albeit in toned down form. We suspect elements will also filter across to
regular Mercedes lineup as well.

2014 BMW i8 Review
Subscribe : http://www.youtube.com/user/Auto1News?sub_confirmation=1
What's New for 2014
The 2014 BMW i8 is an all-new model.
Based on the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car shown a few years
ago, the 2014 BMW i8 represents the German automaker's vision of a
high-performance plug-in hybrid. If this is what the future looks like,
sign us up. Zero to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds? A full charge in three hours
from a regular garage outlet? Approximately 95 mpg? Yes, please.
For the i8, BMW chops its classic 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine
formula in half. The i8 uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder
paired with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. The
three-cylinder drives the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic
transmission, while the electric motor powers the front wheels through a
The engine and electric motor combine for 362 horsepower, 420 pound-feet
of torque and all-wheel-drive performance, all integrated into a chassis
that is 10 pounds lighter and 1.5 inches longer than the 3 Series. The i8
also delivers stellar handling thanks to 50/50 weight distribution and a
low, centrally mounted battery pack, although standard 20-inch wheels seem
like a suspect choice for maximizing corner-to-corner performance.
BMW says the i8 can also travel 22 miles and reach a top speed of 75 mph on
electrons alone. Uncorked with the gasoline engine in the lead, it will
reach a top speed of 155 mph. Sounds like a pretty good future to us.
Lightweight construction helps bring lofty performance within reach,
notably an aluminum chassis, chemically hardened glass (similar to that
used in smartphones) and extensive use of carbon-fiber-reinforced panels
within the 2+2 passenger cabin. Those plus-2 rear seats are small, however,
smaller than even a Porsche 911's, and are best considered auxiliary
luggage space. Even settling into the front seats requires some practice
given its unique scissor-lift-style doors.
We drove a recent i8 prototype and found the i8's easy thrust in
all-electric mode a close match for the Tesla Model S. In its Sport mode
(there are also Comfort and Eco Pro settings), the i8 further awakens,
feeling light, agile and averse to body roll. The hybrid never quite
overwhelms with acceleration, but it also never feels winded, the electric
motor's torque nicely covering for the small turbo as the latter winds up to deliver its power
Whatever the i8 lacks in competitive performance, it won't lack for style.
Its low-slung profile is punctuated by standard U-shaped LED headlights.
You can even order the i8 with laser headlights where regulations allow
(sorry, U.S. shoppers). Inside, a multitiered and layered cockpit design
uses recycled materials and naturally treated leather for upholstery and
panel surfaces Like the smaller i3 electric car, the i8 will offer three
trim levels -- Mega, Giga and Tera -- all with varying degrees of sport and
The 2014 BMW i8 arrives in the spring and starts around $136,000. That's
well above its most obvious target, the Tesla Model S, and that kind of
money also buys a lot of Porsche 911. Performance aficionados won't likely
be swayed and may even look across the BMW lineup to the "M" cars. But for
the hybrid buyer seeking power, performance and efficiency through a lower
profile, the 2014 BMW i8 presents a unique choice.
