1970 Mercury Cougar Convertible 351 Windsor V8 - Nicely Restored
I thought you'd like a look at this very slick 1970 Mercury Cougar
Convertible. This one is powered by a high performance 351 Windsor V8,
equipped with a Holley 4 BBL carb, Edelbrock aluminum intake and a set of
coated headers. The metallic blue paint is slick, the hideaway headlights
work as they should, and it even has the sequential turn signals. The
interior is in black vinyl and really looks great too. I hope you find it
interesting, thanks for taking a look!

Instruments: Guitar, Bass, Kit, Organ, EP
With a jumping bass and off-beat syncopation, this is straight from
Memphis' Beale Street. The Hammond organ and electric guitar play together
as longtime friends, while the melody changes hands from guitar to organ to
electric piano. 011

'70 Cougar Convertible Buying Guide - What To Look For
Having recently bought a 1970 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible with a 428
Cobra Jet, Don started going over the car with a fine-toothed comb and
discovered a few things he didn't notice when he first inspected the car
with the seller. This was the inspiration for this video, in which we spend
some time looking at some of the details, like a forensics team, to find
out some important details about this car (both good and bad).
This time, we don't spend any time looking at matching numbers and date
codes and engine "correctness" (sharp-eyed viewers will notice the
incorrect oil pan... the engine block in this car turned out to be a 390
that was bored out and had the Cobra Jet heads and manifolds bolted on).
Our main focus here is to evaluate structural integrity and bodywork. When
it comes to expensive and involved repairs, it doesn't get much worse than
bodywork, so you want to make sure the car you're looking at is as straight
and rust-free as possible.
We hope this video proves helpful! Keep these hints in mind the next time
you go to look at a classic car, Cougar convertible or otherwise. Some of
the info here is specific to Cougars, but much of it applies to other
classic cars as well.

1970 Mercury Cougar convertible for sale
You are looking at a lovely example of a classic Mercury Cougar
convertible, finished in dark red the original colour, with red interior,
a very solid rust free California car since new, still wears the original
blue and yellow california license plates. I purchased this car last year
from the estate of the original owner, who sadly passed away.
The car has 351 V8 2bbl with automatic, and has had an Vintage Air air
conditioning system professionally installed at a cost of nearly $3500, its
a really nice installation, and will freeze your ta tas off!
I have put new brake pads, calipers, master cylinder and Booster. New KYB shocks front and rear, and a
brand new custom made dual Exhaust
system that is nice and subtle that will not upset your neighbours on a
Sunday morning!! The ignition switch was replaced, and all the belts and
hoses have been recently replaced, along with Platinum spark plugs, new
I also added a Petronix ignition system and Flamethrower coil to make the
car a reliable everyday driver. The electric windows have been rebuilt and
the car has a power top with new cylinders and hoses, the top is in
excellent condition with a glass rear window, the parade boot is also
present. I have over $15k in receipts !!
The interior is exceptionally nice, carpet is like new, the seats are
excellent, and the dash pad is perfect, not warped or cracked, an Alpine AM
FM Cd player has been installed with upgraded speakers behind stock looking
door speaker grilles
This convertible body style was only made for 1969 and 1970, so they are
pretty rare, only 2322 convertibles were made in 1970 !! So there cannot be
too many left. The Mercury shares many of the mechanical items such as
suspension, brakes, etc with the ubiquitous Mustang,
The car runs and drives very well, and needs nothing but a driver, the
transmission shifts well, car brakes perfectly, and the top, windows,
wipers, and lights all work.
The car is sold completely as is, no warranty expressed or implied, this is
a 42 year old car, its not perfect, but its very nice. Please ask
questions, I strongly encourage inspections, the car is titled in my name,
no liens, with a clear California title, and the car is currently
registered and insured. The car is located in Los Angeles, I can arrange
shipping overseas or nationwide at your cost.
Please have your finances in order before you look at the car. If you have
to ask your wife, bank manager, cat or dog, please move on !! And don't
bid, if you have a less than perfect feedback rating or lower than 5 please
contact me before bidding. Thanks for looking. :) I have tried to be
honest and accurate in my descriptions, but descriptions are open to
interpretation, so please ask specific questions. Car is for sale locally
so I reserve to end the auction early, so if you want to buy the car give
me a call and lets do a deal.

Convertible Top Installation: 1969 - 1970 Cougar / Mustang
In this episode, we tackle the daunting task of installing a convertible
top on a 1969 Mercury Cougar. Instead of stumbling through it ourselves,
we watch a professional do the installation and take note of some of the
details and tricks involved in the process. Javier was there to help and
translate, and the end result was a great looking black convertible top.

of the most influential cars in automotive history:
Is It Numbers Matching? - Cougar by the Numbers
In this video we delve into the complex topic of decoding tags, date codes,
and other numbers to check if your classic Ford / Mercury is "numbers
matching," using Don's newly acquired '69 Mercury Cougar XR7 428 Cobra Jet
convertible as an example. While we haven't covered the subject 100% in
this video (to keep it concise) we think this covers most of the major
components and gives you the knowledge you need to figure out what your
numbers mean. As mentioned in the video, we highly recommend Marti Auto
Works, especially his Tagbook, which made this video possible. Visit him

Muscle Car Of The Week Video #59: 1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E 427
http://www.musclecaroftheweek.com/store - This week, we're bringing you an
often overlooked muscle car, the 1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E. These were
sporty but comfortable, and the GT-E bought you a 7-liter V8 to make things
interesting. Most were the smooth 428 V8, but some were ordered with the
far less subtle 427 side oiler... like the one in this video. The 427 was
rated at 390 HP and has a great rumble, but the car is refined enough to
drive and enjoy every day. The Brothers Collection is home to several
rare Mercury cats, this is one of the favorites!
67-68 Cougar Buying Guide: What To Look For
In this video, Don does a detailed inspection on a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7
to show some of the things you should look for when buying one of these
classic cars. Some of the insight here can potentially save you hundreds,
even thousands, when you go to negotiate with a seller. Also, it will help
those of you trying to sell, to more accurately advertise the strengths and
weaknesses of your car.
We've also done a similar video with a 1970 Cougar convertible, so you may
want to check that out too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fizb2vo68vA
