1963 Pontiac LeMans Rare 4 Cylinder Four Barrel Four-speed 3.73 Posi - Half of a 389 V8
I thought you might like a look at this very unique 1963 Pontiac LeMans. It's powered by a 194.5 Cubic Inch 45 Degree Four Cylinder, topped with a 4 BBL Carb, and running through dual Exhaust. Pontiac, basically cut a 389 V8 in half...in fact, it uses the same head as the 389 and the 421. In this case, the four cylinder is backed by a four-speed manual and a set of 3.73 Gears with Posi. As you can see, it really is a great looking car and would look right at home on the dragstrip in the 1960's. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for taking a look! 1963 Pontiac Tempest - Gateway Classic Cars St. Louis - #6353
#6353 For sale is a very nicely restored, fun convertible; a 1963 Pontiac Tempest Lemans. This car was way before its time, offering independent suspension, near 50/50 weight distribution, and a strong running V8 backed by an automatic transmission. Performance was strong enough that Car Life magazine stated; "No one will wonder why they didn't use the 389," and fuel economy with the 326 ranged up to 19 mpg. The V8 option proved popular: 52% of the 131,490 Tempests and Le Mans sold in 1963 were ordered with the 326. The high-compression 326's output was 260 hp and 352 lb ft of torque. 1963 was the last year for the first generation Tempest, and by then, all of the bugs were worked out while styling points peaked. The exterior is coated in a high gloss maroon while the interior offers period correct tri-tone vinyl. This little convertible is sure to turn heads with its wonderful style. The convertible top is white in color and looks great up. Other options include: AM/FM radio, manual convertible top, hubs caps, power brakes, power steering, seat belts, vinyl interior, and white wall radial tires. The automatic gear selector is located on the dash by usage of a lever and a clear gear indicator, wow! There are believed to be just over 73k actual miles on this Tempest and it shows. Along with the car comes receipts for recent work completed including: brake system, rebuilt transmission, serviced differential, new gas tank, fuel pump, and electrical work. The Tempest is now ready for the some road time. If you are looking for a vintage Pontiac to enjoy this summer, here it is. You simply cannot restore a Pontiac this nice for the cost of buying it completed.
