My 1993 Mercury Cougar

This is my 1993 Mercury Cougar XR7 Special edition. It currently has about 68,900 miles on it. It has the 3.8 liter V6 which is alright even though I wish it had the 5.0. This car drives like no other it rides great as well. So far I have put on new brakes, rebuilt the valve body in the transmission, changed the oil and cleaned it. I will buff and wax it later as well as change the anti-freeze, put on touchup paint, and fix the little bit of rust on the drivers side rocker panel. It has a Kenwood headunit with an MP3 hookup as well as my Harbor Freight airhorn.

Muscle Car Of The Week Video #59: 1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E 427
http://www.musclecaroftheweek.com/store - This week, we're bringing you an often overlooked muscle car, the 1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E. These were sporty but comfortable, and the GT-E bought you a 7-liter V8 to make things interesting. Most were the smooth 428 V8, but some were ordered with the far less subtle 427 side oiler... like the one in this video. The 427 was rated at 390 HP and has a great rumble, but the car is refined enough to drive and enjoy every day. The Brothers Collection is home to several rare Mercury cats, this is one of the favorites!

A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Spooky, 1992 Mercury Cougar
1992 Mercury Cougar. Took me one year to build. I had a Gold 1997 Cougar with a 4.6 V8 and a Silver 1992 Cougar with a 3.8 V6. I blew up the V6 and wrecked the V8 so I put them together, painted it black and named it "SPQQKY". Here's a video of the process. I DRIVE IT EVERYDAY!

Some of the insight here can potentially save you hundreds, even thousands, when you go to negotiate with a seller. Also, it will help those of you trying to sell, to more accurately advertise the strengths and weaknesses of your car. The Story Of Cougar 1: The First Mercury Cougar
A while back, we sat down with Jim Pinkerton, the owner of the very first production Mercury Cougar (1967 model year), a.k.a. Cougar 1. We hit the "record" button on our cameras and he let loose with an epic tale of how the car was first sold in Canada, its subsequent life there, and how it eventually got into his hands - an intriguing story! He also goes over some of the unique features of the car, and some of the restoration techniques used. It's a truly beautiful factory show car with more attention to detail than the 'average' Cougar. Special thanks to Jim Pinkerton for his time, and for providing most of the images you see in this video from his own collection of Cougar memorabilia. Cougar XR7 3.8L Supercharged V6
3.8L Supercharged V6 In 1989 and for the first time in Cougar history, no V8 engine would be offered. The lower cowl of the new MN-12 chassis did not allow the traditional 5.0L to clear the hood; engineers would continue to work on getting the 5.0L to fit without a power decrease and finally get it into the cars for 1991. In the meantime, the base engine was the naturally-aspirated 140 HP 3.8L V6. The XR7 and the Thunderbird Super Coupe would receive the all-new supercharged 3.8L V6. By incorporating the Eaton M90 the motor put out a respectable 210 horsepower and over 300 lbs of torque. Optional on the XR7 was a Mazda-derived M5R2 5-speed manual transmission. The "truck" transmission was chosen because it could manage the supercharged motor's torque production. Eaton had been urging Ford to incorporate the modified Roots-type positive displacement pump since 1977. The 1989 and 1990 Cougar XR7 was winner when Ford finally decided to use it on the 3.8L V6.
