We now have the official track time for the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition.
Driver Akira Iida clocked a lap time of 7:14.64 on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife on August 31. The special edition LFA did it using its standard-issue (road-legal) Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires.
The LFA Nürburgring Package is scheduled to go into a limited-run production in 2012. Only 50 units will be from a total LFA production run of 500 models.
The Nürburgring Edition of the LFA comes with a carbon fiber body kit, a re-tuned suspension and an upgraded 6-speed sequential gearbox. It is powered by a 4.8-liter V10 engine with 562 hp (419 kW / 570 PS) - the standard LFA has an output of 412 kW (560 PS). The complete package costs an additional $70,000 but delivers a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph).
Fernando Alonso drives Ferrari 458 Spider
Right before the start of the race weekend of the Italian Grand Prix in
Monza, Fernando Alonso wanted to try the new 458 Spider, which will be
presented at the IAA Frankfurt next Tuesday. The Scuderia Ferrari driver
enjoyed the potential of the 8-cylinder mid-rear engine from the Prancing
Horse - with hard top and fitted with the same most advanced technological
content as the multi-awarded 458 Italia and now available in an "en plein
air" version - on the roads around Maranello.
Alonso was extremely satisfied with the perfect combination of high
performance, exceptional handling and the engine sound the 458 Spider is
able to deliver.
Jaguar C-X16 Concept revealed - first promo
Jaguar has unveiled the C-X16 ahead of the concept's debut at the Frankfurt
motor show next week.
The C-X16 is a 2-seat rear-wheel drive coupe with a hybrid drivetrain and a
perfect 50:50 weight distribution between the two axles. The compact
measures 4,445 mm in length, 2,048 mm in width and 1,297 mm in height and
has a wheelbase of 2,622 mm, making it the smallest Jaguar since the 1950s.
The concept is powered by a 3.0 liter V6 with an output of 380 PS (280 kW /
375 hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque coupled to an 8-speed gearbox with
an integrated motor generator. That generator draws power from a 1.6 kWh
battery pack and is able to provide an additional 95 PS (70 kW) and 173
lb-ft (235 Nm) of Boost. This Boost option is activated from a "Push
to Pass' button on the steering wheel. The C-X16 uses regenerative braking
to feed the batteries.
That drivetrain provides the C-X16 with a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph)
acceleration time of just 4.4 seconds and an top speed of 300 km/h (186
The C-X16 can travel on electric power along for a limited distance and at
speeds up to 88 km/h (50 mph). CO2 emissions are 165 g/km.
Pagani Zonda R - Nurburgring lap
Pagani - Pirelli Tyre - Assuring new technologies and materials are fit for
production means also putting the vehicle's components under severe
stresses, exceeding those normally encountered in every day road driving.
The Nürburgring Nordschleife is the most demanding track in the world, for
man and machine, an ordeal that each Pagani has to pass, only one of many
in the entire development phase.
The Zonda R serves as the ultimate test bench, a car able to reach
acceleration figures and speeds that are not possible with a road car.
This is further underlined by a laptime of 6:47,5 min for the 20,832 km
Nordschleife. Driver: Marc Basseng
Lexus LFA Nordschleife lap
A lap around the Nürburgring Northschleife. My first time on the
Nordschleife, didn't know the track well. Drove a few laps on PS3 a day
before. Enough to remember the 1st third of the track, the rest was
familiar, bot not enough.
Made A LOT of mistakes, overshifted a lot trough the whole lap. Probably
because of the excitment, so don't blame me :) Amazing expirience. Great to
be able to look at the speedo too. The video hides true speed very well.
Still in love with the engine and the sound of the car. The LFS is
magnificent, sublime on the road and track. Best supercar I've driven. So
balanced, so poised and with enormous levels of grip. Will remember this
for the res of my life. Was one of the highlights of my journalistic career
and I get chills just looking at this ...
Timed the lap, and I think it would be around 8min05sec. Good&fast for my
first time at the Ring. The car was a normal LFA, not the Nürburgring
edition that did the best laptime for the LFA model.
Race to the Mexican border - Top Gear Series 19 - BBC
The boys race to the Mexican boarder from Palm Springs. Jeremy is in a
Lexus LFA, James in an Aston Martin Vanquish, Richard a Dodge Viper. The
last to make it to the Mexican border would have to travel into the country
itself to drive the Mastretta MXT, a Mexican sports car mocked by the boys
in an earlier series. Taken from episode 2, series 19.

Dodge Viper Lap Record at Nürburgring : 7'12"13 (Motorsport)
