2002 Silverado Fuel Pump R&R (Remove/Re-Install Tank Method)
This is the complete removal and re installation procedure to change the fuel pump on a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 LS. The engine is a 5.3 Liter (V8) Vortec with 2WD Automatic. This procedure should be very similar for a wide variety of trucks of the Silverado or Sierra series. The fuel pump I ordered (the AC/Delco MU1613) will fit a lot of different models. I began with a truck that wouldn't run due to about 10 PSI of fuel pressure and ended up with a perfect running truck. I removed and re-installed the fuel tank in this video. The other method involves raising the bed of the pickup. It took me 6 hours working pretty much all by myself to complete the procedure. About 1 hour of that was a lunch break and another 40 or so minutes were little else besides talking to the video camera to explain what I was doing. I had never done this particular procedure before. If I had the job would have gone much more quickly I'm sure.
