1976 DJ5D Postal Jeep for Sale
I have a 1976 Dj5 postal Jeep. It is in running condition....2 wheel drive. I am asking $1300 I bought it with the intent of taking a job with the USPS but my plans have changed. I have put a lot of work into it. It is NOT PERFECT...the pictures may not be very accurate. I painted it with tractor paint and a roller. Yes, it looks like it...i.e. orange peel, runs, drips, missed spots and yes some bondo work also... So if you are looking for show car forget it. This jeep is bright red and gets a lot of attention. It is fun to drive...if you have a distorted since of fun. I will tell you all I can both good and bad.... Good... Replaced.... Brakes all around...shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, master cylinder and one brake hose. Steering gear box. Carb. Fuel pump Fuel tank sending unit horn. New Tires. One new door seal. 4 body to frame bushings. Modified my own drivers side floor pan...there was a large hole there...Fred Flinstone type... I have painted the inside flat gray. I put on seat covers. Put in new carpet... Heater works Did a little body work.. I have a car manual...and I can tell you several sources for parts...speaking of which I have several parts that I removed that might still be good...i.e. brake parts...light....original horn... All of this has been done by myself...I am by no means a professional mechanic...but I can remove and replace items. The Bad... Drives like a tilt o whirl from the state fair...per my wife. I have not had it over 50 mph....the speedo goes all over the place...oh yeah that gauge is cracked.... the gas gauge is stuck on 1/2 a tank There is RUST underneath... If you are not used to driving a vehicle without power steering or power brakes it is different than anything else....if you think you can stop on a dime....won't happen....the oversized 18 inch steering wheel helps with the steering somewhat...but be ready for a workout. bumper on the rear right side has a fist sized hole...there is not AC....for that matter I have not tried opening the door windows...I think you are supposed to be able to do that... The right side drivers vent is stuck open....good for summer not so good for winter.... That is about it...if you have any questions want more pics...I will try to do both....at this point and time I WILL NOT COME DOWN ON THE PRICE....if it does not sell in the next month then I might consider a decrease in price....but I will not sell for less...I can always drive it around town and make people smile or look twice....what car do you know for under $1500 that will do that....oh yeah my 14 year old son thinks it is pretty cool.
