How to Rebuild a Turbo - Part 1 of 2
Rebuilding a td05h 16g turbo. This process can be applied to many journal bearing turbochargers. :) It definitely comes in handy to know how to do this when you are in this type of hobby. 4/25/12: Small explanation on the balancing of the rotating assembly since I get so many comments regarding it. This particular turbocharger, td05h, has its rotating assembly components balanced separately. This means each individual part (compressor wheel, turbine wheel/shaft) gets balanced separately. This allows for easy interchangeability of parts in case they need replacing. This is why I am able to install a td05 20g wheel on this turbo without having to balance the entire rotating assembly. THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR ALL turboS OUT THERE. You need to research whether your specific turbo (if it's not td05h) was balanced as an assembly or "component balanced" like I explained above. How to Add an AUX Input to a Saab 9-3
This video shows how to add an AUX input jack to a 2003 or newer Saab 9-3. Before doing this you might want to look in your center armrest and see if there's one there already. I had one, I just didn't know it. Oh well... I like the location of this one better anyway. My car is a 2006. I don't know what year Saab started adding the AUX input in the armrest, but some of the earlier cars didn't have them. 5 minutes DIY to clean a stuck EGR valve on a Saab 9-3 diesel 2.2 2003, without remove it. The car was almost dead and had shacky start. Diagnostic came up with EGR CODES P0400, etc. Amazingly the car regained power and normal idling back by cleaning and freeing the carbon chocked spring, hook and the piston shaft with WD40 & Carb cleaner from outside of EGR. For long lasting repair of course you would need to take the valve out and clean properly from inside with some sort of cleaner,brush, etc.
