Mercury Cougar is the name applied to a diverse series of automobiles sold
by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company from 1967 to 2002. As was
common with Mercury vehicles, the Cougar shared basic platforms with Ford
models. Originally, this was the Mustang, later the Thunderbird, and
the last a version of the Contour. The Cougar was important to Mercury's
image for many years, and advertising often identified its dealers as being
"at the sign of the cat." Female models holding big cats on leashes were
used on Cougar ads in the early 1970s.
MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer the handsome 1972 Mercury
Cougar XR7 Convertible. The '72 Cougar XR-7 you see today is said to be a
93,931 original mile car that is finished in the original color combination
of Bright Blue Metallic with White/Blue interior. The paint looks very good
and shows no major spots of imperfections, just a few minor spots of touch
up. The power white convertible top is equally as nice with no staining,
rips or tears to the vinyl. The rear window is glass.
Inside, the White/ Blue vinyl interior is the original for the car and in
great condition. The carpet appears to have been replaced recently and is
in great condition. The dash, door panels, arm rest and wood grain trim are
all equally as nice with on major wear showing.
Under the hood, the 351 cubic inch V8 runs great and starts with a turn of
the key. The motor is said to be the original for the car and still retains
its original 2 barrel carburetor, power steering, power disc brakes and air
conditioning. The air conditioning is currently inoperable but it appears
to only be in need of a charge. The engine is nicely detailed and very
original. No damage to be found. The motor is connected to the three speed
automatic transmission which shifts smoothly and performs with no problems.
Under the car is very solid with no rot that we have seen. It appears to be
all original metal under this original southern car. The VIN is 2F94H517485
and the mileage currently shows 93,931, which is believed to be original
for the car. It is being sold on a clean and clear title. GET OUT AND

I thought you might like a look at this 1972 Mercury Cougar XR7
Convertible. It is a very well-preserved original survivor, with only
88,xxx miles on the odometer. It's powered by the numbers matching 351
Cleveland 2 BBL V8, backed by a C6 automatic trans. All the power is sent
back to the extremely durable 9 inch rear. The interior is all original
and is in very good condition. It really is in remarkable condition, given
it's age. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for taking a look!

The most recent owner of this beautiful Cougar had several Cougars over the
years. When we met him he owned this one and a Cougar Eliminator that he
drag races. He bought this one at a local car show about 12 years ago. The
car was restored just before he bought it.

Rat Rod Custom 1950 Mercury Rescue! - Roadkill Episode 21
It's always a good idea to buy a car off the Internet sight-unseen, right?
That's what a friend-of-a-friend of Roadkill did with the kustom Merc—and
maybe he made an even worse decision when he allowed Freiburger and
Finnegan to wrench on the thing and deliver it to him. This deal was set up
by a Roadkill fan, Jim Norman of Norman Vinyards in Paso Robles,
California. The road trip involves the '69 El Camino from Episode 4, The
Dog from Episodes 4 and 17, lots of burnouts with the guys from Hot Rod
