Mopar revealed two Dodge Challenger Drag Race Package Cars at the Mopar Mile High Nationals in Morrison, CO. "Big Daddy" Don Garlits and Judy "Miss Mighty Mopar" Lilly were behind the wheel for the inaugural run.

Festival of Speed in St. Pete, Fl; These are the actual vintage super stock
race cars. They were being lined up to be loaded on transporters when the
car show ended. I stuck around just to hear them fire up!
ATI Challenger Drag Pak
The ATI Drag Pak Challenger, driven by JC Beattie Jr, is ready for the 2011
racing season. The Challenger is equipped with a Gary Stanton prepared
Hemi, ATI built 904 trans stuffed with an ATI Treemaster converter, and
8-¾ rear end.
JC had a string of top 5 qualifiers and even a class win at the Toyo Tires
Nationals in Reading, PA with only a few runs down the quarter mile.

The New Hemi Racing (NHR) 09 Drag Pak Challenger was wired, fired, tuned,

Car is a 2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak car (#24). 6.1 Hemi. Built 904
trans. Weighs 3130 lbs give or take a couple.
This video highlights the MegaSquirt EFI Installation, full
quick-disconnect engine harness build, the chassis wiring, switches, etc.
Next it shows a cool time-lapse of the vinyl wrap process. If you've never
seen a car being wrapped that's definitely cool to watch.
Finally we have a Dyno
pull and the maiden voyage down the track. It's a soft pass with an easy
launch and Chris gets out of it at about the 1000', but this was the first
day the car had moved under it's own power, just shaking it out. That's
the only pass this car has made as of today (until Thursday of this week)
and we didn't get a time slip due to someone tripping the lights prior to
the run, but the car ran clean and straight.
For anyone not familiar with the Dodge / Mopar Drag Pak Challenger, google
them and you'll learn a good bit about the history of these cars. They are
basically factory built race cars, pulled off the line early 'body in
white' leaving much of the car unfinished so that it can be finished at
another facility. Then the owner finishes the car out. This is car number
24 as shown on the plate right at the beginning of the video, they wil
likely make as many as 100 each year.
Last time Drag Pak cars were built was 1968.
This car will be running the NHRA Full Throttle and Lucas Oil series this
year in Stock Eliminator, look for it on ESPN2 if they show the Stock
Eliminator cars sometime, hopefully we'll get a little love there. We'll
be running along with the likes of Jon Irving, Don Garlits, Jeg Coughlin,
and John Force, as well as several other very successful racers/teams.

Dodge Challenger Slow motion Wheelie
1974 Dodge Challenger Slomo Wheelie vid. Santa Pod 2010 eurofinals. By
Blackett Photography. Here the car is powered by a 572ci Wedge motor. Runs
mid 9's @ full weight (3850lb +). To make the caltracks work you need
plenty of front end lift, bump stops were removed and frames notched to get
almost 6 1/2 inches of travel. Something Chrysler never designed that
suspension for I'd guess. We've since improved the bump steer by replacing
parts and resetting the camber / castor as the front has aftermarket parts
and plenty of adjustment.
In reality it's difficut to fully eliminate without going to a strut type
front end, though some people appear to have done it on stock stuff, it
seems to be a common chrysler trait. Check out the superstock video's from
the '70s and most Mopars do it also check out my other real time wheelie
vids you see that the wobble lasts only a fraction of a second.
