Blyton Park Trackday 3/3/12 - Apex Trackdays - MX-5

Blyton Park with Apex Trackdays - www.apextrackdays.co.uk Stan and Cap's first time on track and first outing for the Mk1 MX-5 we were in. Engine is completely standard but it has different shocks, geo setup, tyres, TR Lane half cage and buckets/harnesses. Great day out as always - special thanks to the chap who broke our steering lock at the start of the day. Nope, not joking, I left the keys 120 miles away so we had to effectively hotwire the car to get it started!

Three Sisters Sprint - Course 2 - 21/5/17 - Westfield SEW 1.8 Zetec
Some bits and bobs from a really fun day at Three Sisters, run by LDMC. I'd decided to go full-on simple for this sprint, driving the car down in the morning, taking absolutely no tools / support stuff with me (not even any fuel or a tyre pressure gauge!), then driving it back home after. The point of this was to try and prove that you don't need all the bells and whistles or a fancy car to have a great day out and still be competitive. The car does plenty of road miles so is softly sprung with a good ride height / ground clearance, has a mildly tuned 1.8 Zetec engine with about 185bhp (throttle bodies, 'fast road' cam), squishy seats, oldskool 4 speed gearbox, live axle, basic dampers, Medium 888s - all I did to 'prepare' the car was add a click to each of the dampers :-) Still, the car proved competitive and I ended up winning the class vs a 260bhp Westfield on softer tyres (but it's about 90kg heavier) and a similarly-powered Caterham - which is lighter than me - on super soft ACB10s (odd chassis age-related MSA regulations). Thanks to all the organisers and fellow competitiors who made it a really enjoyable day!
