Climb - Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a Monster
Ride on the bumper of a screaming 910hp, Twin-turbo, All-wheel Drive, 150 mph Suzuki SX4 as it races up one of the world's most dangerous hills. An attempt by the "Monster" to break his own record of 10:01:41...
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (June 29, 2010) -- For the fifth consecutive time, Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima combined experience, skill and Falken Tires to claim overall victory in the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Although he did not set a new Pikes Peak record, one day before his 60th birthday, Tajima continues to hold the current overall record for reaching the peak, beating hill climb veterans Paul Dallenbach and Rhys Millen in the Unlimited Class. He drove his new 910-hp Monster Sport Suzuki SX4 Hill Climb Special on Falken WildPeak A/T tires, the powerful new line of all-terrain, all-season tires Falken launched this past April.
Following Exhaustive tests in a Japanese wind tunnel facility, Monster's 2010 Pikes Peak race car underwent extensive aerodynamic changes to better adapt to the modified road surface on the race to the clouds, which assumed a smoother tarmac and less gravel than last year. Thinning air ascending the mountain robs most motors of their power by 30 or more percent, but the increase in horsepower over last year's race car helped push the driver forward.
Jezebel crash at Mt Cotton
Second run for the day, managed to crash after crossing the finish line - I was going pretty easy because of the wet, just obviously not easy enough. Doing about 80 kph at this point on the track - the front bumper took most it, but the impact has also bent the front nose across about 2 inches forward of the tank. Guess I have some serious panel beating to do !!!
Mt Cotton Hillclimb Rd5 44.13
New PB 44.13, now only .31sec off all time record. Getting there! Rear tyres were shagged, need new ones to get off the line with more hookup. Hopefully break the record on the last climb of the year 30th November.
13psi Ecotec.wmv
VS V6 Commodore with Raptor ProStreet Intercooled stage 3 system. Running 13psi in the manifold this is a test unit to gauge long term effects on the system. The power and torque have obviously increased and a retune is now needed. The extra stability of the air system has shown remarkable improvements in fuel economy, the large 32mm BOVs are responsible for this.
The 4" intake assists with flow into the compressor as the SC is delivering enough air for around 350hp at the wheels with a good tune
750cc turbo Hillclimb Mt Cotton
On 6 July 2008.
I do not know the guy (Darren Robb) and it was really struggling for traction, maybe you can have tooooo much power :)
I was sorting out a few vids from the day of a mate's blue 500cc kart, when I thought some might like to see this one ... Formula Libre 750cc turbo EFI.
The track was damp but no others were struggling that much, the driveshafts gave out at the top of the hill and that was that.
