The 2nd annual Off Road Evolution JK Experience presented by Falken Tire was a great success! A weeklong off-road event exclusively for Jeep® Wrangler JK's.
This year the participants tackled trails in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. The JK's encountered various levels of terrain from switch back mountain climbs, rock obstacles, rain, snow, mud and sand. All participants were required to be self sufficient and prepared for anything, even a night or two of camping in the rain.
Thanks again to all our sponsors who made this event possible for the participants and the crew, the 2nd annual JK Experience will not soon be forgotten.
The JKX DVD will be available for sale this December. Until then, visit our website www.jk-experience.com and our facebook page to see photos of the 2010 JK Experience and see what's in the works for the 2011 JK Experience.
Climb - Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a Monster
Ride on the bumper of a screaming 910hp, Twin-turbo, All-wheel Drive, 150 mph Suzuki SX4 as it
races up one of the world's most dangerous hills. An attempt by the
"Monster" to break his own record of 10:01:41...
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (June 29, 2010) -- For the fifth consecutive time,
Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima combined experience, skill and Falken Tires to
claim overall victory in the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International
Although he did not set a new Pikes Peak record, one day before his 60th
birthday, Tajima continues to hold the current overall record for reaching
the peak, beating hill climb veterans Paul Dallenbach and Rhys Millen in
the Unlimited Class. He drove his new 910-hp Monster Sport Suzuki SX4 Hill
Climb Special on Falken WildPeak A/T tires, the powerful new line of
all-terrain, all-season tires Falken launched this past April.
Following Exhaustive tests in a
Japanese wind tunnel facility, Monster's 2010 Pikes Peak race car underwent
extensive aerodynamic changes to better adapt to the modified road surface
on the race to the clouds, which assumed a smoother tarmac and less gravel
than last year. Thinning air ascending the mountain robs most motors of
their power by 30 or more percent, but the increase in horsepower over last year's
race car helped push the driver forward.
Final Fight at 2010 Formula Drift Irwindale
FONTANA, CA -- After finishing second in the "Title Fight" at Toyota
Speedway at Irwindale, CA, Formula Drift's final event of the year, Team
Falken's Vaughn Gittin Jr., driver of the Monster Energy/Falken Tire 2011
Ford Mustang, became the
Formula D Champion of the 2010 season.
It was the 11th podium finish for Team Falken in seven Formula D races,
a season in which the tire company's factory-supported teams dominated all
year long. Falken placed first in five of the seven events.
Three Team Falken drivers were in the top five in the final standings.
Total points between the top five drivers were close, but Gittin Jr. was
clearly the favorite after taking two wins in the six races leading up to
the Title Fight. He finished the season with 632 points. Irwindale winner
Tanner Foust eventually finished second in the standings at 568.5, and Team
Falken Driver Daijiro Yoshihara ended up fourth overall, just one point
behind third place Ryan Tuerck. Team Falken Driver Darren McNamara took
"This was Jr.'s year plain and simple, said Jonathan Bradford, Falken's
Drift Team Supervisor. "There is a lot to be said about finishing on the
podium six out of seven events this year. It was a pleasure to be involved
with a team that left everything on the track and drove with an all-in
attitude. We have successfully rewritten the record books and I would like
to personally thank the fans that rooted for Falken throughout this
"Our team's success would not be possible without the support, hard work
and dedication of our two fabrication/engineering facilities, Autosport
Dynamics (ASD) in Charlotte, NC and SPD Metalworks in Anaheim, CA," added
Nick Fousekis, Senior Manager, Consumer Marketing. "I'd also like to thank
all of the sponsors, including our newest, Monster Energy, for their faith
in Falken's program. Last but certainly not least, we thank the fans of
drifting. Without you, the sport would not have grown into that it is
The Irwindale event started off well, as Falken's Darren McNamara qualified
first, followed by Yoshihara in third. Gittin Jr. was sixth. Both
McNamara and Gittin Jr. made it to the Top 4, but McNamara lost a chance to
take a podium when he spun out in the battle for third place.
"On behalf of everyone at Falken Tire, we wish to express our best wishes
to Vaughn," said Andrew Hoit, Falken Director of Marketing. "This was a
great season for Falken, and we entertained close to 500 guests over the
weekend at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. I'd also like to salute the
efforts of our other team members: Dai Yoshihara; Darren McNamara; Tyler
McQuarrie [who finished 8th in the standings]; and Justin Pawlak [who
finished 11th]; as well as our privateers, all of whom, like the factory
teams, competed on Falken Azenis RT-615K tires: Fredric Aasbo [13th]; Ross
Petty [19th]; "Mad" Mike Whiddett [21st]; James Deane [24th]; and Dean
Kearney, who came from Ireland. Their participation successfully enhanced
our overall effort, and we'll all join the celebration."
Drifting takes competitive motorsports to the extreme, and has
successfully attracted strong crowds, loyal fans and car enthusiasts from
all walks of life. Falken quickly realized how popular and demanding this
format would become, and since 2003, has been a solid fixture within the
sport. The focus is on skill and precision driving, as competitors in
specially prepared, high-powered vehicles intentionally execute controlled
sideways slides at high speeds through a marked course.

2010 Tierra Del Sol 4x4 with Falken Tire
Last weekend marked the 48th annual Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari in
Ocotillo Wells, CA, and Falken Tires first year as an event sponsor and
supporter. Despite forecasts of inclement weather, enthusiasts in RVs and
Off Road vehicles were out in full force. Falken Tire was present with a
compound complete with their trademark blue and teal scalloped Falken
Motorsports rig as well as full vendor participation and R/C race track
setup from HPI Racing.
Although there were high gusts early in the week, the winds died down
Thursday allowing for Falken staff and enthusiasts alike to truly
appreciate the terrain and vehicles. Falken gave its SEMA project Jeep JK
a workout, equipped with Wildpeak A/T tires. Over the course of 4 days,
the Falken Tire JK and Wildpeak A/T tires were put to the test, enduring
all types of conditions from hard packed dirt to crumbling sand - these
tires were able to conquer it all!
The Wildpeak A/T is currently available in 27 sizes ranging from 15-20 rim
diameters and up to 33 tall. An additional 17 LOD (Large Overall Diameter)
sizes up to 37 tall will launch in the fourth quarter of 2010. The
Wildpeak A/T features a durable 3 ply sidewall (most sizes), allowing
enthusiasts to venture wherever they desire, both on and off road.
Friday night activities featured an open invitation bonanza at the Falken
Tire compound, with complimentary Carne Asada tacos and refreshments.
Enthusiasts and off-road industry experts joined Team Falken crew members
for the evening cook-out as a nice way to end the week by the campfire.
Saturday, the Tierra Del Sol staff held their annual raffle in which Falken
contributed one set of Wildpeak A/T tires, one set of High Country tires,
and 5 HPI R/C Crawler King trucks. With over 8,000 people in attendance,
Tierra Del Sol was an overwhelming success for Falken and the launch of the
new Wildpeak A/T product line and events campaign.

Check us out at: http://www.WAYALIFE.com
Born and raised in Southern California, our idea of off-roading has always
been about exploring the wide open desert, high mountain peaks and crawling
over big rocks. Of course, there is really is so much more to off-roading
than just that and, thanks to Off Road Evolution's JK-Experience, presented
by Nitto Tire, we got a chance to experience for ourselves how the
Heartland of America plays!
In this first of a 3 part WAYALIFE film series, you will see the beginning
of our week long adventure which started in Terra Haute, Indiana and got us
playing out in the hills of the Red Bird Off Road Park. For most of us,
this was our first time playing in real Heartland of America mud and,
thanks to a little storm known as Hurricane Isaac dumping 6" of rain before
we got there, it was one hell of an experience!
We hope you enjoy our film and come back soon to watch parts 2 and 3.
The 2012 Off Road Evolution JK-Experience presented by Nitto Tire was also
made possible from support of the following sponsors: AdArt, ARB, ATX
Wheels, Daystar, Discount Tire, Dynatrac, Dynomax, EVO MFG, Hi-Lift, Hora
Zero, Impact, King, Mastercraft, Project-JK, Rancho, Rockstar, Superchips,

Jeep JK WFTW Event @ River Rock ORV Park
Wheelers For The Wounded event held at River Rock ORV Park in Milledgeville
We drove from Miami straight through 13 hours and wheeled for a few hours
on Saturday before I had to retreat to the hotel to pass out from Exhaustion. Everyone else camped at River Rock.
It Stormed heavily through the night and when we got to River rock Sunday
morning every one had either left or was in the process of leaving since
the storms had made a rough night for them.
We stayed and had the whole park to ourselves..the weather cleared and was
Jeep Rubicon and Toyota FJ Cruiser Off-Road in Hawaii
We witnessed first hand the capabilities of both vehicles on the trails.
I'm personally a Toyota guy, having owned several Toyota 4x4s, an FJ and
now a Tacoma. They aren't evenly matched because the Jeeps articulation and
flexibility with the solid front axle, shorter wheel base and being lighter
weight. Driver experience, error and patience were also contributing
factors in how each vehicle performed.
We didn't create this video to make one seam better than the other. Ohana
Trails is a Jeep Club here that we were filming and by chance, a group of
FJ Cruiser owners were convoying with them. Unfortunately, we had more
video of the Jeeps over the FJ's.
All in all it was an epic day up in the mountains at Peacock Flats on Oahu
looking over the North Pacific.
