When the Porsche Boxster debuted back in 1996, it was billed as a no frills, two-seat roadster, and a less expensive alternative to the vaunted 911. Unfortunately, as the Boxster buyer matured, so did the car, out growing its purest sports car roots by adding more and more of the luxury features premium buyers now demand. So, while we welcome a third generation Boxster, we wonder if it can still stir our driving senses. Here's MotorWeek's road test review of the 2013 Porsche Boxster S.

When you own a supercar, you're always in the middle of the attention for the crowd, expecially in Monaco where the tourists are everywhere. The Lambo duo composed by a red Murcielago LP670-4 Superveloce and a yellow Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 with aftermarket Exhaust wanted to show off for the crowd, with the result of being pulled over in the Casino Square by a few cops that gave to the driver a warning.

I made this little video when I was in Porsche Saint-Maur. We were here to see the new Porsche Boxster S. It was painted in a magnificent Gris Quartz. The car is very beautiful roof down. But roof up, it suffers from the comparaison to the 911 cabriolet which is beautiful roof up. It's still better than the old boxster. The man started up to put the roof up, and surprisingly, this was the stock standard Exhaust ! You can just imagine how loud the sport one should be ! Sadly, I only had my iPhone so the pictures are not so good...

Some people say the Boxster is a poor man's Porsche, but the new S model puts that idea to rest -- it's as quick around Germany's infamous Nurburgring circuit as the legendary 996 GT3.
It's not hard to see why. The Boxster S has one of the finest chassis of any car, incredible brakes and a cracking 311bhp 3.4-litre flat six-cylinder engine -- largely the same as the one found in the latest 911.
