Nasser Al Attiyah - Rally of Lebanon
Had the chance to film Rally champion and winner of the Dakar 2011 Nasser Al-Attiyah and co-pilot Giovanni Bernacchini testing the Ford Fiesta S2000 prior to Rally of Lebanon 2011 and during the rally. After leading the 3 days rally, Nasser finally fell under pressure of Lebanese Roger Feghali (Mitsubishi evo X R4) and finished second. This build consisted of replacing our stock appearing blouch dominator 2.0 turbo (which ran a best pass of 11.4 @ 122mph) with an Extreme turbo Systems Billet T3 PT67-65 turbo Kit. We also removed the entire long block out of the car to be custom built to our specs with a full Cosworth Bottom End. We are now using Cosworth Pistons, Rods, Bearings, Rings, and Head Gasket. Gino, from Evolution Racing Engines in Amityville, Ny performed a complete Port and Polish along with an extreme valve job to match GSC's S2 274/274 Camshafts high duration and lift. Furthermore, an AMS 600HP Fuel System was customized by us in utilizing Twin External/In-Line Bosch 044 Fuel Pumps feeding a -8 Feed and Return line to an AMS Fuel Pressure Regulator Kit and AMS Fuel Rail feeding Fuel Injector Clinics 2150 c.c Injectors. We also decided to purchase an Exedy Twin HD Re-Build kit to freshen up our clutch which had numerous mid-11 second passes at EnglishTown, Race Way Park. Last but not least, The new Tial Q 50mm Blow Off Valve replaced the stock metal valve which starts leaking at the 27psi marker. We have now successfully maxed out the stock factory MAF Housing which registers 4.99 Volts from Peak Boos/Torque to our Red-Line of 10,000rpm. The stock factory MAP Sensor also caps itself out at 33.4psi. We are upgrading to an Omni 4-Bar map sensor to run upwards of 50psi in hopes to max out our Precision T3 Billet 67-65 turbo and achieve an absolute minimum of 825whp. Our conclusion for the 2010 Racing Season motivates us to become a few World Record Holders consisting of: The World's Highest HP Evo X Gsr with the Stock ECU, Stock MAF, and E-85 Fuel. The Ultimate Turbo Anti-lag System
A close up encounter with a new turbocharger anti-lag system that will soon change the face of turbo drag racing forever. A 224cid Buick V6 spooling a monster Borg Warner Airwerks S510/91mm turbo. These tests were performed with the afterburner set at a low initial setting. The full potential and limits of the afterburner feature are yet to be explored. This system is very capable of pushing the 3200 rpm stall speed (no Nitrous, zero Boost) of this torque converter to over 6200 rpm stall speed in 2 seconds, and in the same time generating over 220 kPa manifold pressure. Impressive only if you fully understand the demanding spooling requirements of the Airwerks S510 turbocharger. Pro light launch tests with the newly enhanced Nitrous/Methanol ALS coming up next. Update: Latest performance of the car, 2/12/11, 5.57 @ 126 mph in the 1/8 mile. 1.27 60'. The ALS activated for only 1.7 seconds, and shut down before launching the car from the starting line. In the comments section I have made entries that give detailed descriptions of how this system works and basics on how to set it up. This system is far from optimized. Hopefully others will play with this system and make further impressive advances with it. Warning: For Advanced Tuners Only! Update: There was a substantial leak discovered in a tee fitting in a MAP signal line that, at the time of this video, fed both the fuel pressure regulator and the Boost gauge. Trying to judge the Boost level with the fuel pressure and Boost gauges in this video would be inaccurate. The Boost level that was recorded by the ECM during these tests was in the range of 14 psi. The Boost gauge in this video (upper left gauge) is showing only 6 or 7 psi Boost due to the signal line leak.
