427 Shelby Cobra Vs. GT500 Super Snake - 2 SHELBYS and 2 HOT LAPS
This just keeps getting better! After driving the 2011 Mustang GT500 Super Snake through the canyons near where I live...I was able to do a few hot laps in it on the road course outside Las Vegas Motor Speedway. And to make the day even better, I was able to do some laps in a 427 Shelby Cobra.
Thanks to Gary Paterson from Shelby North America for letting me wheel these cars during our photo and video shoot for Hot Rod Magazine when we had a blast trying to find out which is the "Baddest Shelby Of All Time". Look for that video at youtube/hotrodmagazine.
Don't watch this video expecting to see these cars at their performance limit...I'm not that guy. I'm just an average dude with a great opportunity to share this awesome experience and give my thoughts so fellow car guys can get a true feel for wheeling these amazing machines.

Starting in 2008, previous 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustangs could be sent to Carroll
Shelby's Special Performance Plant in Las Vegas to be rebuilt into a Super
Snake, which resembles the 1968 GT500KR, for an additional cost of $27,995.
The Super Snake will offer a 605 hp 5.4LEaton roots type supercharged
version with warranty. A Kenne Bell twin-screw supercharged version with
"over 725 hp" will also be available, without warranty and a 0-60 time of
under 4 seconds. The Super Snake is inspired by the 1967 GT500 Super
Snake, a car made by Carroll Shelby for Goodyear Tires
Automobile racer Carroll Shelby transformed a conventional Mustang into a serious track racer
designated as the "GT-350". The fastbacks were shipped from the San Jose,
California assembly plant and fitted with a "Hi-Po" 289, 4-speed manual
transmission, and included front disc brakes and heavy duty rear drum
brakes. Additionally, shortened hoods and deleted rear seats with
identifying trim were among the visual variations. These select Mustangs were converted to street,
road racing, and drag cars in Shelby's plant at Los Angeles International

An unfortunate Supersnake owner pulls out of the ford dealership and
attempts to show off in front of a bunch of Camaros in Wyoming. These cars
should require a mandatory course at skip barber driving school to
understand car control before taking ownership. As far as I know nobody was
seriously hurt, but seeing the needless destruction of such a fine car is a

Replica 1965 Shelby Cobra owned by Len B, produced by Kirkham Motor Sports.
The car only weighs 2100 pound due to its aluminum body which is made in
Poland at a former MIG aircraft factory. The cars weight is also low due
to aluminum suspension and motor. The motor is a Shelby aluminum block
427fe which produces 700 horse power (i.e., FAST) !!! That is the same
power to weight ratio as a bullet bike.
To the dismay of several bullet bike riders; Len likes to show them who is
"the boss" in a race from time to time.

Jacobsen using car a Mk2 Roadster kit from Factory Factory Racing. The car
is powered with a 302 crate engine from Western Motorsports in Calgary,

Donuts in a 1966 Cobra - /BIG MUSCLE
It's a 1966 Shelby Cobra replica that was built by a Father and his two
sons more than 10 years ago. It's faded fiberglass shell is chipped and
spider-webbed. The stainless trim is pitted and tarnished and the wheels
are coated in a thick layer of brake dust. The carpet is also coming up and
every now and then it blows flames from its side-pipes due to it running a
little rich. Some may think these are problems. Me personally - I think
it's one of the coolest cars I've ever driven. This episode of "Big Muscle"
