2hp: Mazda 3 VS Honda Civic. 2014
Today we will make a comparative test drive between the two eternal rivals: Honda Civic and Mazda 3. It is obvious that Honda Civic looks restrained, conservative, but at the same time quite boring. What can not be said about Mazda 3. It is emotional, sporty and aggressive.

2015 Ford Focus ► Interior & Exterior Design
In addition to a host of styling and technological advances, the new Focus will offer the remarkably efficient, fun-to-drive, award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost® engine with a six-speed transmission -- surpassing the fuel efficiency of the previous model, and once again raising the bar amongst the competition. Twice already, automotive journalists have named Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost powerplant International Engine of the Year, for 2012 and 2013. The optional engine will be offered alongside the base 2.0-liter GDI I-4 engine, which currently helps the Focus deliver an EPA-estimated rating of 40 mpg on the highway. The smallest engine in the company's growing EcoBoost family will increase the choice for Ford customers in the United States, as Fiesta is already available with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. In Europe, where it is already on five nameplates, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost accounts for 32 percent of sales of the current-generation Focus and 26 percent of Fiesta sales this year. Robust demand for the 1.0-liter in Europe has prompted Ford to double production capacity at its state-of-the-art plant in Cologne, Germany, to more than 1,000 engines a day. A package of sensors brings a new level of convenience for compact car customers by adding driver-assist technologies including a rearview camera and an available Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) and lane-keeping system. Standard on Focus for the first time, the rearview camera will appear on either a 4.2-inch screen or the 8-inch screen that comes with MyFord Touch®-equipped cars. BLIS uses two multiple-beam radar modules, the same used with cross-traffic alert, which are packaged in the rear quarter panels, one on each side. The radar identifies when a vehicle enters the defined blind spot zone and illuminates an indicator light on the corresponding sideview mirror, providing a warning that a vehicle is approaching. Should a Focus driver start to drift out of the current lane without a turn signal on, the available lane-keeping system provides a warning through a series of steering wheel vibrations that mimic a rumble strip. If the unintended lane departure is not corrected by the driver, the aid function of the system actively applies steering torque to help the driver direct the car back toward the center of the current lane. ► SUBSCRIBE NOW: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=youcarpress ► FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/youcarpress ► TWITTER: http://www.twitter.com/youcartv ► GOOGLE+: http://plus.google.com/+YouCarPress

Honda Mean Mower vs BTCC Honda Civic
To celebrate reaching 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, we've released a video which is a little different to the rest. Subscribe to our YouTube channel here: http://bit.ly/11Ad1j1 Subscribe to the mag http://subscribe.autoexpress.co.uk/yt Reigning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden will be aiming to keep off the grass when he heads to Silverstone for the final round of this year's series on 13 October. But he took time out from his preparations to have a bit of fun, lining up on the grid with three-time champ and team-mate Matt Neal on a special mower created by their Team Dynamics squad. The Mean Mower is a bit different to Gordon and Matt's Honda Yuasa Racing Civics. It's based on a Honda HF2620 lawn tractor, but the regular 20bhp 614cc V-twin engine has made way for a 1,000cc V-Twin from a Honda Firestorm motorbike. This delivers 110bhp, and gives a power-to-weight ratio of 520bhp per tonne -- enabling the mower to do 0-60mph in under four seconds and hit 130mph. To cope with this huge pace, the regular mower chassis has been replaced with a chromoly spaceframe. Suspension and wheels from an ATV help Boost the handling, plus there's a body-hugging racing seat and Alcantara steering wheel with buttons for the sequential gearbox. This drives the rear wheels via a chain to a rear axle sourced from a go-kart. Yet this amazing machine can still cut grass. The steel cutting bed is replaced by a lighter fibreglass version, and isn't connected to the petrol engine. Instead, two electric motors spin a 3mm wire cable at 4,000rpm -- proper blades could be a bit dangerous at 100mph. The Mean Mower is similar in concept to a Yuasa Racing Civic, which is taken off the production line in Swindon, Wilts, and heavily modified. While the chassis and body are retained, the interior is stripped out and a roll cage fitted. New front and rear sub-frames are installed, as are racing-spec suspension and brakes. And while the 2.0-litre engine uses the same block as the old Civic Type R, a turbocharger is added and most of the internals are changed. Total output is around 330bhp, which allows the Yuasa Civic to do up to 160mph. But how would the BTCC racer compare with the Mean Mower on a lap of Rockingham's National Circuit in Northants? The track is 1.7 miles long, has a range of corners and plenty of grass that could do with a trim... "The only way the mower could win round here is to literally cut corners," said Matt. "But if it doesn't, it has no chance. In fact, I reckon I could give it a 40-second head start and still cross the finish line first." Was Neal right to be so confident? The way the mower stumbled off the starting line suggested so. Its tall first gear makes for lazy getaways -- be too aggressive and the engine will stall. But once moving, the Mean Mower soon gets into its stride. In a straight line, it's quite impressive -- but the narrow track makes it tricky through corners. Still, after 40 seconds, the mower had completed over a third of a lap -- leaving the car with plenty of catching up to do. In fact, the Civic didn't have the mower in its sights until it rounded the penultimate corner. This was going to be close. As the BTCC racer entered the final hairpin, the Mean Mower was exiting it and heading down the home straight -- just a few hundred metres from victory. But the distance to the finish line proved just enough for the Civic to close the gap. In the end it pipped the mower at the post, by the narrowest of margins. We checked the stopwatch: the BTCC car had taken one minute 18.2 seconds to do a standing-start lap. The mower completed it in one minute 59 seconds -- a difference of 40.8 seconds. We know who won the moral victory, though, as the Civic can't trim your grass! Little wonder that these Honda stars are keen to be handed the Mean Mower to cut some blades of glory in their gardens during the close season.

2014 / 2015 Honda Civic EX Review and Road Test
Check out my other videos! http://vid.io/xqoB Who is Alex? Find out here! http://vid.io/xqoF People assume that car companies know their competition's every move, as if there was some sort of "Mission Impossible" crew sent in on weekends to monitor R&D progress. While some less-than-ethical information exchange goes on, usually a car manufacturer like Honda finds out what the competition's latest widget looks when we do. Need proof? Look at the 2011, 2012, 2013 and now the 2014 Honda Civic. The 9th generation Civic was intended to début as a 2011, but the financial implosion caused Honda to go back and re-work their compact car as a 2012 to keep prices low. In the perpetual game of auto-leapfrog, Honda miscalculated the direction Ford, Hyundai, Kia (and perhaps even Nissan) were headed. The result was bashed by Consumer Reports and raked across the coals by most of the press. Did buyers care? Apparently not. The 2012 Civic was purchased in impressive quantities by real-people. Honda could have found solace in their sales, but instead they did something unusual: they re-re-redesigned the Civic for 2013 followed by a light refresh yet again for 2014. The 2013 Civic isn't just a second-year options package shake-up, and it isn't even a mid-cycle color and trim shuffle. The changes after only a year on the market land somewhere between a refresh and and a redesign-on-the-same-platform. How can I call it a redesign? Well, if Lexus can call the "new" LS a new car... But I digress. The 2013 re-tune focused on a visual re-tweak of the car's front and rear end and a slew of interior refinement changes and upgrades. Because of the time constraints many of these changes didn't make it to the Civic Coupé in time for the 2013 model year so for 2014 the Coupe gets the same interior and a slightly re-worked exterior. The big news for 2014 however is Honda's all-new 7-inch touchscreen HondaLink infotainment system. The new smartphone integrated system runs a version of Honda's familiar software adapted to a single screen interface with touch and slide gesture commands. While you can opt for standard navigation in the EX-L with Navigation model, the EX and EX-L trims integrate Honda's new iPhone integrated nav option which costs just $65 (plus a cable) and reminds me of GM's Bringo integrated navigation system. (In a good way.) I have long thought that this type of solution is the way to go and Honda has found a way to make it work even without Apple's CarPlay software interface being finalized. Sadly Android owners will have to wait a while before a similar solution is available for them.
