Ford Taurus SHO Hennessey "445 Boost"
Ford Taurus SHO Hennessey "445 Boost". Visit: http://classiccarpictures.us/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Description: The last time Hennessey entered our news section was when the Texas-based company hammered their Venom GT to a top speed of 265.7 mph (427.6 km/h) claiming it's the world's fastest production car. Before that, their Ford GT reached 267 mph at the Texas Mile. You'd think Hennessey is all about extreme vehicles, but it's not like that. From time to time, the Houston tuning specialist comes up with less outrageous vehicles that can be driven on public roads without fears of taking off like a fighter jet. And because they don't have four digit numbers for HP figures doesn't mean these "lesser" cars are unattractive. They're actually pretty cool, including the latest 2012 Ford Taurus SHO that came out of Hennessey's workshop with more than 400 HP. This dark green four door went to Houston with a 365 HP 3.5-liter turbo V6 under the bonnet and came back to its owner with 445 HP after receiving the companys MaxBoost 445 treatment. To be more precise, the Taurus got a dual cold-air induction system and an ECU remap for the extra 80 HP, and can now reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standing start in 4.3 seconds, while the quarter mile is rated at 12.8 second and 109 mph. Besides the mechanical tweaks, the SHO also gained a stainless steel cat-back Exhaust system, unique "445 Boost" and Hennessey badges, serialized dash and engine plates and embroidered headrests. This may not be the world's fastest four-door sedan, but it must be one heck of a cool ride! 2013 Ford Taurus SHO Road Test
Can you drift a 2013 Ford Taurus SHO like Nascar racer Carl Edwards does in the commercial? I tried and couldn't. This press car didn't have the ESC button in the center console to disable the stability management system so try as I might, the car would never get sideways. I did however find out how great this car is at being a world class sedan. Around town and in the canyons, this 4400 pound vehicle feels flat out nimble. It's also pretty fast, 0-60 in 5.2 seconds will get your attention and the immensely capable all wheel drive system, huge brakes and fantastic suspension will keep it. I'll go on record for loving the eco-Boost engine platform. The 3.5L Twin turbo V6 is only mildly laggy at the low end but more than makes up for that once it starts to rev. The practical side is that you could use all 365 horsepower in this car and still manage fuel mileage in the mid 20's and then on the highway settle in at about 30 MPG. Would I own one, heck yes...as long as it had that ESC button in the center console to disable the stability management systems so that I could four wheel drift the tires off the thing.
