What is it? It's muesli I make it myself I get the apricots, oats and crack the sunflower seeds using a pestle and mortar and - Oh the van, it's a beauty isn't it? Let me get dressed I'll be with you in a tic. It's a Volkswagen T-Series van yeah like the Kombi only this is the sixth incarnation of that famous early people mover. This particular one is a T6 Multivan and it's a special edition called Generation Six - a bit of a Kombi tribute. What makes it a Generation Six – the Kombi inspired two-tone paint and wheels, the tinted glass, the LED headlights. And on the inside the Generation Six gets Alcantara heated seats, this dash trim which matches the body colour and there's also some great safety stuff like front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera and even adaptive cruise control. Our car was fitted with the optional and more fancy Discovery Media system which brings sat nav, but you don't have to get that. The standard media system on the Generation Six is great and has the same 6.3-inch screen ready to go for Apple Car Play and Android Auto for your navigation, music and other phone functions like voice texting. So what's it like to drive. It's heaps of fun. But it's definitely a van. And by that I mean it's got high upright seating position with the steering wheel low and the pedals right under your feet. You'll also know it's a van when you're reversing it – the visibility is great it's like being in a fish tank just one that's five metres long and two metres high. And just like nearly every other van there's a bit of body shudder on rougher patches of road. You feel like you're exploring in it and that's fun and you can tell other people think it's fun too – looks you get are proof. But the driving isn't the best thing about this car – the practicality is. Let me show you. There's seating for seven and it's the seats themselves which are stars of this car. You've got these swiveling captain chairs here. And there's the bench seat at the back. All of it is on rails so you can vary the boot space or the legroom and if you want you can take all of the seats out. This van is in no way claustrophobic, there's so much space – the roomy cockpit makes driving more fun and for those in the back it's a bit of a limo crossed with an adventure bus experience. I really like how I can just I can just get up out of the driver's seat and step through into the back while the space makes it easy to move about in there move about in there, too. Storage is phenomonal – you'll never be out of reach of a cup holder or bottle holder. There are also drawers under the seats, giant trays and pockets in the doors and the glove box which open from the top and bottom. The Generation Six's sliding doors are automatic and you can open them using the key fob, the buttons on the dash or just pulling on the handle. That rear tailgate doesn't open automaticaly, but it's easy to lift and provides an excellent awning – I'm a 191cm Adonis and can stand up straight under it. You can also get some option some pretty cool things. Like this table. Look it's not all perfect – there's only one USB port, that display is tiny, you're shopping rolls all around if it's not in a cargo net and this upholstery feels a bit posh for food-throwing kids. Then there's the price – you're looking at almost $75K new. For $25 grand less you could get the entry grade Multivan. But there are droves of people who'd spend that on sportscar without even blinking – try getting dressed in one of those. Yup what you have here is the swiss army knife of cars with a cabin that feels so well built. It's cool but with a focus on the practical like these tour bus style windows which makes it easy for kids to see out. These window shades. The overhead lighting and air con controls. And the Generation Six adds a more premium, almost chauffeur car feel. The Generation Six is your holiday machine again or your cool family hauler that throws shade at so-called seven seat SUVs. It's a mobile lounge room, a dining room and wait for it bedroom. Yes, the seats fold flat to make a bed. Some people movers go for form over practicality, but the T Series Multivan does the opposite and makes it stylish and the Generation Six adds the extra Kombi connection. Night night. Дебют шестого поколения модели состоялся в апреле 2015 года в Амстердаме. Немцы не имели морального права разочаровать почти два миллиона владельцев T5, полюбивших этот автомобиль за 11 лет производства, поэтому внешность шестого поколения минивэна стала не революцией, а эволюцией прежних решений. Тем не менее, даже с учетом безоговорочной узнаваемости, Мультиван получил более современный облик, прекрасно сочетающийся с актуальной стилистикой марки и практически гарантирующий, что спустя много лет автомобиль будет все так же хорошо выглядеть. В основе Фольксваген Мультиван лежит прежняя, но существенно модернизированная платформа. Но еще важнее то, что шестой генерации минивэна стало доступно оборудование, нетипичное для коммерческих автомобилей. Речь идет об адаптивном шасси, адаптивном круиз-контроле с функцией полной остановки на городских скоростях, автоматическом переключении дальнего света, контроле усталости водителя, доводчике и электроприводе пятой двери, усилителе голоса водителя для облегчения общения с пассажирами в шумной обстановке. Главными в моторной гамме Volkswagen Multivan, безусловно, являются дизельные двигатели. Вернее, один двигатель, 2-литровый TDI, но в нескольких вариантах форсировки – на 84, 102, 150 и 204 «лошадки». Бензиновый же мотор тоже 2-литровый и тоже турбированный. В его арсенале 150 или 204 л. с. мощности. Коробки передач – и «механика», и «робот» DSG. При этом во всех случаях двигателю полагается система «Старт-Стоп» и меньший, чем прежде, расход топлива. Если верить паспортным данным, экономия составляет 15% или 1 литр солярки на каждую сотню километров (данные примерны и зависят от модификации автомобиля).
