Rusty Roof Replacement - 1968 Cougar
If you have an old car that came with a vinyl top, chances are that you have some rust issues in the roof. This was the case with Andrew's car - a 1968 Mercury Cougar that his grandparents bought brand new in '68. In this video, Andrew takes matters into his own hands to replace his rusted roof skin with a solid donor roof from another car. He is by no means a restoration expert, just an amateur trying to save some money and save his car. Need a roof or other body panels for your classic Cougar? West Coast Classic Cougar has it all. Check us out at http://www.cougarpartscatalog.com or give us a call at (503) 463-1130 . (c) 2011 West Coast Classic Cougar, Inc. Music in the video is from royalty-free sources, except for the Toccata and Fugue in D (used during the brief B&W horror sequence). Performed by Peter Hurford. An advertisement appears on this video in order to pay royalties to the copyright holder, not for our own gain.

1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7 GT "Barn fresh"
It ran when I parked it in the garage in 1989...

1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 - Mellow Yellow?? - NOT! - HEAR ME ROAR! TOO LATE--I'M GONE!
Here is a super nice 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 with less than 119K miles. This car has always been an Oregon car. We believe it is also a numbers matching car and once verified, we will change this ad to reflect that fact. It still has the original 289 two-barrel, but now has an Edelbrock Performer intake and Holley 4 barrel and the stock manifolds have new dual Exhaust with glass packs and H-pipe. The interior is in quite good shape including the carpets, headliner, dash and door panels. The seat covers have been replaced to look original with quality upholstery which we believe to be leather. All the gauges, dash lights, wipers, sequential turn signals, horn, lights and as well as all electrical work great. The radio is original AM/FM with rear speakers. Did you happen to live in a rural area back then and tried to pull in the rock and roll sounds of a radio station in the city—it's about the same as then--sporadic. You could leave it stock or put in a great new stereo. While having been repainted once, it was repainted the correct original Jamaican Yellow with tasteful black pin stripes and the body is quite straight. The glass is all original with the proper date code and all chrome and trim are there. There are reproduction factory S/S wheels from West Coast Classic Cougar and good Michelin radials with narrow whitewalls. This car shows very well and has been in several car shows and cruise-ins. It has spent most of its life stored inside and was only driven about 4K miles in the past year. Recent work and improvements to the car include but are not limited to: tune up, plugs, wires, filters, and oil, the sequential turn signal module was replaced with updated solid-state unit, both vacuum canisters for the hideaway headlights have been replaced (there is a lifetime warranty on these), various vacuum lines, new Exhaust from crossover back, new ignition switch, headlight switch, battery, voltage regulator, heavy duty alternator and the tilt-away steering column was rebuilt with new solenoids. It starts right up, drives very well, stops straight, shifts crisply and has made many round trips from Salem to Portland and oh yeah—did we mention it SOUNDS incredible and is anything but mellow? Vehicle information above is deemed reliable but not guaranteed. All vehicles are offered subject to an inspection and an appraisal if desired. Financing is available through JJ Best Banc. Delivery arrangements are available. For ore information, please call 503-855-345 of 1-888-597-6719.

SOLD 1950 Mercury Coupe Hot Rod for sale by Corvette Mike Anaheim California 92807
1950 Mercury Custom Coupe Candy Apple Red w/White interior. If you get a bunch of gearheads in a room together and they get to talking about what the ultimate hot rod is, inevitably there will be three constants on the list; the '32 Ford Hi Boy Roadster, the '32 Ford 3 window coupe and the subject of this ad; the iconic '50 Merc coupe. The quintessential lead sled; the Merc defined the full bodied hot rod in the '50's. Its flowing lines were a vast canvas on which customizers could practice what was a fairly new art form back in the late '40's, early 50's. Chopped, channeled, frenched and decked. That's what you did if you wanted your Merc to stand out in a crowd! And the sled being offered here does that in spades! Designed to emulate customs made famous by legends like Sam and George Barris, Gene Winfield and many others, this rolling piece of art has all of the elements mentioned above, in addition to being wrapped in stunning Candy Apple Red paint, white tuck and roll interior with a multi-carb'd Flathead under the hood! Held in a vast private collection consisting of only the finest custom automobiles, the work was done by Steve's Auto Restorations using elements of Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac, Olds & Kaiser. The hardtop body has no "B" pillar, the headlights have been "Frenched", hood corners have been rounded and of course it wouldn't be a '50's custom without Appleton spots! The interior features white "Tuck and Roll", laminated plastic knobs and a '57 Olds steering wheel, power steering, a hidden audio system and solenoid operated doors, windows and trunk The business end features a full dress Motorhead City 1950 Flathead engine featuring an Offenhauser intake and heads and three Stromberg '97 carbs. House of Color supplied the Candy Apple over Gold exterior and "Von Dutch" style pinstriping. Wides whites with full Cadillac wheel covers completes the deal! It's an investment grade custom that spells upside in it's fortunate new owners future. It was good enough for James Dean! Stk #N/A

1967 Mercury Cougar First Start In 25+ Years

Mercury Cars of 1949 to 1951
The Mercury car model has been around since 1939 and was introduced as a mid range priced vehicle by Edsel Ford. Cars built between 1949 and 1951, would in later years prove to be very popular amongst the Hot Rod Car Enthusiasts. They would reshape the steel to produce cars that would set a new standard for Customized Vehicles. Early model Mercury cars of 1949 to 1951 had a 90 degree V type, "L" head 8 cylinder engine with a displacement of 255.4 cubic inches. These engines put out 112 horsepower at 3600 R.P.M. Later model cars of 1955 replaced the "L" engine with the "Y" block V-8 producing between 188 and 198 horsepower dependant on the engine type for that year. This slide show is a part of a series of pictures of cars from different car shows that I've attended here in Southern California U.S.A.

1968 Cougar 427 GT-E at Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale 2011
This is the story of Brian Aust and his 1968 Mercury Cougar 427 GT-E. Over the course of about 5 years, he undertook a painstaking restoration to bring the car to the highest level he could, with a little help from his friends (and lots of advice from folks on http://www.mercurycougar.net ). On January 22, 2011, he drove it onto the auction block at Barrett-Jackson, stepped out, and watched it sell for... well, you'll just have to watch to find out! WCCC TV was there to chronicle the experience for your enjoyment, so relax and enjoy! Don't forget to subscribe to our channel to keep up to date with our latest videos. 67-68 Cougar Buying Guide: What To Look For
In this video, Don does a detailed inspection on a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7 to show some of the things you should look for when buying one of these classic cars. Some of the insight here can potentially save you hundreds, even thousands, when you go to negotiate with a seller. Also, it will help those of you trying to sell, to more accurately advertise the strengths and weaknesses of your car. We've also done a similar video with a 1970 Cougar convertible, so you may want to check that out too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fizb2vo68vA To look up the parts mentioned in this video, visit http://www.cougarpartscatalog.com Subscribe to our channel to keep up with our latest uploads! 1968 Mercury Cougar Finally back on all 4 new tires!
A video showing my Cougar with the new tires on it, finally off the jack stands, and on the tires! I got all 4 tires the same size, but it still looks good! The old tires were way too big on the back, and even smaller than what is on now, on the front. So, now at least everything is 'equalized' out! I also decided to show my other 'old' cars, and what I have to do to them next, before I start driving them again. My poor Hurst/Olds still has no engine, or trans. I did make a promise to myself to get that car running before the car show season starts, so we can take the Cougar, and it to shows! Hopefully, I can keep my promise!

1972 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible 351 Cleveland V8
I thought you might like a look at this 1972 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible. It is a very well-preserved original survivor, with only 88,xxx miles on the odometer. It's powered by the numbers matching 351 Cleveland 2 BBL V8, backed by a C6 automatic trans. All the power is sent back to the extremely durable 9 inch rear. The interior is all original and is in very good condition. It really is in remarkable condition, given it's age. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for taking a look!
