The most recent owner of this beautiful Cougar had several Cougars over the
years. When we met him he owned this one and a Cougar Eliminator that he
drag races. He bought this one at a local car show about 12 years ago. The
car was restored just before he bought it.

Mercury Cars of 1949 to 1951
The Mercury car model has been around since 1939 and was introduced as a
mid range priced vehicle by Edsel Ford.
Cars built between 1949 and 1951, would in later years prove to be very
popular amongst the Hot Rod Car Enthusiasts. They would reshape the steel
to produce cars that would set a new standard for Customized Vehicles.
Early model Mercury cars of 1949 to 1951 had a 90 degree V type, "L" head 8
cylinder engine with a displacement of 255.4 cubic inches. These engines
put out 112 horsepower at 3600 R.P.M.
Later model cars of 1955 replaced the "L" engine with the "Y" block V-8
producing between 188 and 198 horsepower dependant on the
engine type for that year.

This is the story of Brian Aust and his 1968 Mercury Cougar 427 GT-E. Over
the course of about 5 years, he undertook a painstaking restoration to
bring the car to the highest level he could, with a little help from his
friends (and lots of advice from folks on http://www.mercurycougar.net ).
On January 22, 2011, he drove it onto the auction block at Barrett-Jackson,
stepped out, and watched it sell for... well, you'll just have to watch to

1966 Ford Mustang 289 HiPo
This is my 1966 Ford Mustang with a 289 cubic inch "K"
code High Performance V-8. Still using the factory internal guts, but have
full roller rockers, guideplates, race valves, 3 angle valve job,
port/polish, all round port matching, 10:1 compression, pointless high
energy ignition, etc. Has a Weiand Stealth high rise, 1" spacer, Holley
670cfm 4-barrel (huge for a 289). Custom cam patterned around a
289HiPo/Boss302. 230 duration @ 50, 270@20, 108 LSA, 500 lift. Very hot cam
with a nice medium lope. (more)
