Honda Prelude 1994 H23A Motor Replacement
We swapped out the existing H23A which had just had $3,000 worth of head
replacement done. The crank bearings lasted a couple of weeks after the
head was done so we decided to replace the whole thing.
Juli, Alex and Patrick picked up a H23A with 200,000klms, from Casino NSW
in December 2011.
We swapped the motor over the Christmas break. The replacement engine is
great. No smoke (checked at night with a torch), runs smooth. No crank

How To Do A Valve Adjustment On Your Honda Prelude H22 BB6
Knowing how to do a valve adjustment can save you a lot of worry and
headache. The Honda Prelude is known for its H22 engine. Taking care of the
H22 will provide you with years of reliability and performance.
Doing routine valve adjustments will keep your car running at peak
performance. The H22 2.2 Liter VTEC engine can also fit into other cars as
well, so even though this video is for a Honda Prelude BB6, if you have a
H22 then this video is for you.

ONLY ADJUST VALVES WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, or less than 100 degrees
Fahrenheit or (38 degrees Celsius) .
Intake: 0.15 - 0.19 mm (0.006 - 0.007 in)
Exhaust: 0.17 - 0.21 mm (0.007 -0.008
Valve Cover torque specs: 8.7 lbf-ft
Ignition wire cover: 7.2 lbf-ft
Alternator Terminal: 6 lbf-ft
After adjusting the valves torque down the crankshaft pulley bolt to 245
N-m (181 lbf-ft)
