1984 Corvettes are still an incredible car!
The C3 Corvette was an unqualified success. The public had accepted the new
body style and responded by pushing sales volume to the 40,000 / year level
in six of the last seven years of production. The Corvette had established
itself as the technological flagship of the GM lineup. But the last
significantly new Corvette chassis was introduced in 1963, more than 20
years earlier. To stay on top, a new generation Corvette was needed. Video

I have always wanted to do a 0-60mph. run. I set the car up with my old
Canon Elura on the roll bar. It worked in the garage, but died. So all the
incar prep work with the iPhone Stopwatch failed. It was fun anyway .. I
used the computer and the iPhone Stopwatch. The car shifts into 3d. gear at
62mph. Anyway, I was disappointed, I thought the car was much faster. Next time I won't focus on the
iPhone. But hook up the car'
Corvette C4 1986 Frankenstein Restoration FOR SALE
This is my 1986 Corvette. My wife named him Frankenstein. Frankie for
short. I restored this car from the ground up. It was a neglected C4
Corvette. I got the car with a new built up 350 engine. I restored the
entire car myself. I painted it, reupholstered the seats, new black
interior, weatherstripping, air conditioning system. I changed the 700R4
trans to a 4+3 Doug nash transmission. I also rebuilt the 4+3 overdrive
myself. New tires, brakes, rack & pinion. Upgraded the alternator, new
digital dash. I can go on and on, but lets just say. This car is like a
brand new 1986 Corvette. It has it all. You wont find one swirl in my black
paint. Its black glass. I have never done so much work on a car. THIS

In continuation of my "Short Takes" video series at All City Auto, I give a

under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give
others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
1984 Corvette C4 - FAST GLASS.wmv
The 1984 C4 Corvette Targa Top, it needs a Huge amount of detail work it
will take a year or two but it is sound as far as the mech. stuff, good
drivetrain, passable seats for a driver burns zero oil and drives hands off
at 75. The bad part is the amount of detail work - temp. paint touchup and
in a couple years Paint, all the carpet is bad, it needs rear tires real
bad who would have thunk, rubbers on the shocks have shrunk and clunk
loudly, needs a radio, Im sure a few bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends
and such need replaced and lots of little items but with only a 205 Hp.
Crossfire injected engine with a mild cam it is much more powerfull then I
would have thought, it must be the light weight body. Well wish me luck
this will take forever Rob

September 1984 through 1988 Corvettes offered a Doug Nash designed "4+3"
transmission -- a 4-speed manual coupled to an automatic overdrive on the
top three gears. It was designed to help the Corvette meet U.S. fuel
economy standards. Since 1981 when it was last offered, a manual
transmission returned to the Corvette starting with production in
late-1984. The transmission proved to be problematic and was replaced by a
modern ZF 6-speed manual gearbox in 1989.
In 1986 the second Corvette Indy Pace Car was released. It was the first
convertible Corvette since 1975. A Center High Mounted Signal Light (CHMSL;
a third center brake light) was added in 1986 to comply with safety
regulations. All 1986 convertibles had an Indy 500 emblem mounted on the
console making any color a pace car edition. The color of the pace car used
in the race was yellow.
In 1987, the B2K twin-turbo option
became available from the factory. The Callaway Corvette was a Regular
Production Option (RPO B2K). The B2K option coexisted from 1990 to 1991
with the ZR-1 option, which then replaced it.
Early B2Ks produced 345 bhp (257 kW) and 450 lb·ft (610 N·m); later
versions boasted 450 bhp (336 kW) and 613 lb·ft (831 N·m).
1988 saw the 35th Anniversary Edition. Each of these featured a special
badge with an identification number mounted next to the gear selector, and
were finished with a white exterior, wheels, and interior.
In 1991, all Corvettes received updates to the body, interior, and wheels.
The convex rear fascia that set the 1990 ZR-1 apart from the base model was
now included on L98 Corvettes, making the styling of the expensive ZR-1
even closer to that of the base cars. The most obvious difference remaining
between the base and ZR-1 models besides the wider rear wheels was the
location of the CHMSL, which was integrated into the new rear fascia used
on the base model, but remained at the top of the rear-hatch on the ZR-1's.
For the 1992 model year, the 300 bhp (220 kW) LT1 engine was introduced, an
increase of 50 bhp (37 kW) over 1991's L98 engine. Also new for 1992 was
Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR), a form of traction control which
utilized the Corvette's brakes, spark retard and throttle close-down to
prevent excessive rear wheel spin and possible loss of control. The
traction control device could be switched off if desired.
1996 was the final year of C4 production, and featured special models and
options, including the Grand Sport and Collector Edition, OBD II (On-Board
Diagnostics), run flat tires, and the LT4 engine. The 330 bhp (246 kW) LT4
V8 was available only with a manual transmission, while all 300 bhp (224
kW) LT1 Corvettes used automatic transmissions.
Chevrolet released the Grand Sport (GS) version in 1996 to mark the end of
production of the C4 Corvette. The Grand Sport moniker was a nod to the
original Grand Sport model produced in 1963. A total of 1,000 GS Corvettes
were produced, 810 as coupes and 190 as convertibles. The 1996 GS came with
the high-performance LT4 V8 engine, producing 330 bhp (246 kW) and 340
lb·ft (460 N·m). The Grand Sport came only in Admiral Blue with a white
stripe down the middle, and black wheels and two red stripes on the front
left wheel arch.
1985 C4 Corvette-Kart vs. 2014 Lingenfelter C7! - Roadkill Ep. 35
On this episode of Roadkill, we hack the entire body off a C4 Corvette,
cage it, and call it a race car! Freiburger and Finnegan fulfill a dream
that began four-plus years ago when they first wrote the "Vette Hack"
article for HOT ROD magazine, slicing 900 pounds of ugly fiberglass off of
a 1985 Corvette to prove that it would handle better in the autocross. Less
weight means more acceleration, better cornering, and better stopping. The
idea is proven once again here as the guys add a 350-horsepower rat-rod engine,
rebuild the trans, remove more weight, and make it rigid, safe, and stylish
with a full rollcage. Next, they head into a shootout with a 2014 Corvette
upgraded by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering with an Edelbrock blower,
Kooks headers, and Corsa Exhaust for a
wicked-sounding 640 horsepower. And then, of
course, there's the off-road mayhem. The Vette Kart rocks!
Roadkill appears every fourth Friday on the Motor Trend channel.

How to change the headlight motor gear in a C4 Corvette
C4 Corvette Headlights, Headlight Motors, headlight not popping up, This
video will show you how to take off the headlight assembly, take off the
headlight motor, and change out your worn gear with a nice new one
If your headlights are not going up, or it goes up but easily falls back
down, this is what you need to do to fix it. It is cheap ($5 for a new
plastic gear or $50 for a bronze one).
This is really easy to do and it will save you a lot of money. The dealer
wanted $400 per light. This takes an hour each light if you take your time!
