1984 Mercury Capri turbo RS engine start
up after rebuild.
Car has a 2.3l four cylinder that has been rebuilt. The head is lightly
ported, has oversized valves and runs the stock slider cam. Still using the
stock T3 turbo but have added an E6 Exhaust manifold, 35lb/hr "brown top"
injectors, and LA3 ECU.
Aftermarket parts are Stinger front mount Intercooler, Stinger modified down
elbow and 3" Exhaust, and 3" straight
through muffler. Forced4 CAI kit, flex tube eliminator and Boost control.

85 Mercury Capri New Engine First Time Out (Stumble) 3rd run
First time out for new engine. Had a very bad stumble off the line. Found
out later that my MSD 7AL2 was pulling 10 degrees of timing out between
3,000 and 4,000 RPM's. So I was leaving the line with only 24 degrees of
timing!! No wonder the car was falling flat on it's face!! Despite dismal
60 foot times in the 1.80's, the car was still running 7.0's in the 1/8
mile at 97 MPH. That was short shifting at only 6,000 RPM's. My goal of
6.60's in the 1/8 with this new engine should be easily realized after it
gets sorted out

Partial throttle runs for fuel mapping. Dyno was set to sweep
1000-7000rpm in 18 seconds. Limiter at 6450rpm. Crash at 5400rpm most
likely due bad conrod bearing.

84 mercury capri walk around and revs
my 84 capri. what you hear is a 020" over 302, with an eddy 1406, prof.
products typhoon, world jrs, comp FS 282S-10, 1.6 comp rrs, bbk equal
length shorties, 2.5" hedman o/r h, flowmaster super 40s etc. idles at 1k
rpm, rev'd to 6k.
