2011 WRX STI Sets Speed Record
At Subaru, the phrase "The Fastest WRX STI Ever" refers to more than just
top speed or maximum engine output. It implies driving with confidence. The
WRX STI can be taken to its "fastest ever" performance by providing the
driver with total driving control with confidence. As a result, the 2011
WRX STI recorded 7'55''00 at the Nürburgring racetrack, Subaru's fastest
lap time ever, which is 4 seconds faster than the previous fastest time
recorded in 2004.
Porsche's 12 Hours of Sebring
The 2010 12 Hours of Sebring marks the 50th anniversary of Hans Herrmann's
victory at the legendary event in his 1960 Porsche RS 60. This year, the
pair of Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RSRs are on hand to defend their 2009
championship title. Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Long, both Porsche
factory drivers, discuss what it's like to race at Sebring and to be part
the Porsche driver legacy. It was a close battle in GT2 last year between
the Lizards and Corvette Racing, making this year all that more important.
Also on hand for this year's race is Hans Herrmann, the first Porsche
driver to win the Overall victory at Le Mans. Hans talks with Patrick and
Jörg while at Sebring about the changes in the racetrack over the past 50
years and how motorsports as a whole has changed.

With a power output of 408 hp, outstanding vehicle dynamics and
emphatically sporty equipment, the new 911 Carrera GTS ascends to the
pinnacle of the Carrera model series. 23 hp more than the 911 Carrera S
enable the new GTS -- available as Coupé and Cabriolet -- with 3.8-litre
engine to close the gap up to the 911 GT3 with 435 hp.

Speedster, being built in a small series. In homage to the first Porsche
model that bore the
name Speedster -- the 356 Speedster -- the production run for the new model
is limited to
356 cars. The two-seater, with a power output of 408 HP (300 kW) like the
Carrera GTS, differs
significantly from the other members of the 911 family. In the best
tradition, the 60 milli -
metre lower, more angled windscreen, the flat contour of the sporty-look
manual hood and
the characteristic double scoop on the convertible-top compartment lid
define the striking
profile of the new 911 Speedster. That gives an even more imposing look to
the body of this
rear-wheel-drive car, with its extra 44 millimetres of width at the rear.
The sporty flavour is further enhanced by the exterior colour "Pure Blue"
that has been de -
veloped exclusively for the Speedster, providing an intriguing contrast
with the tinted front
lights, black headlight rings, black windscreen surround and other black
applications. It also
features a special front apron, specific side skirts and a distinct rear

With an output of 408 HP (300 kW), abundant drivability and its decidedly
the new 911 Carrera GTS takes its place at the top of the Carrera model
range. Because its
3.8-litre engine develops 23 HP (17 kW) more than the 911 Carrera S, the
new GTS -- available
in Coupé and Cabriolet body versions -- fills the gap below the 911 GT3
and its 435 HP
(320 kW) engine. As a unique feature in the Carrera family, the 911 Carrera
the 44 millimetre wider Carrera 4 body of the all-wheel-drive models with a
wider track and
classic rear-wheel drive. As well as giving the car sporty qualities, this
brings economic ad -
vantages; thanks to Porsche Intelligent Performance, the new top athlete is
no more thirsty
for petrol than the Carrera S. The NEDC fuel consumption of the Carrera GTS
Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) is only 10.2 litres/100 km (27.69 mpg imp)
