Rob Dyrdek and the Sonic made history in leaps and bounds as the famed reality TV star commandeered Chevrolet's hot, new sub-compact in a gravity defying "kickflip" at Six Flags in Valencia.
Automotive thrill seekers jammed Magic Mountain park to witness the 360 degree "kickflip" which utilized two 50 foot ramps - one to launch and one to land the specially wrapped Sonic.
Dyrdek's Sonic feat was evocative of the iconic automotive stunt depicted in the 1974 James Bond film " The Man With The Golden Gun."
After the daredevil stunt was completed, Dyrdek and the cast of Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory signed autographs for his adoring fans.
MTV-reality and action sports-star Rob Dyrdek worked all month to prepare his 2012 Chevy Sonic for a kick flip -- a 360-degree rotation in mid-air that is more commonly performed on a skateboard.
For the stunt, racing seats/seatbelts and a roll cage were added to the Sonic -- which has the most standard safety equipment in the sub-compact class, including 10 air bags. Dyrdek performed this live-action stunt in front of spectators as the MTV cameras were rolling for the season five premiere of 'Fantasy Factory.'
Chevrolet Sonic Continues "Leap" Into US Youth Market with Amazing Stunts
The Sonic stunt with Rob Dyrdek is part of Chevrolet's ongoing "Let's Do This" campaign which appeals to young U.S. consumers who are experiencing many "firsts" in life: first car, first job, etc.
The "Kickflip" stunt follows the "Sonic Skydive" wherein a Sonic was parachuted from a plane at 14,000 feet, and the "Sonic Bungee Jump" - a stunt which literally launched the new Sonic from a 100 foot tower while tethered to an elastic bungee cord.

Green Lantern: First Flight is an Intamin 'ZacSpin' roller coaster where riders zig zag along a 825-foot (251 m) track at speeds of up to 37 miles per hour (60 km/h). Riders flip head over heels several times throughout the ride in a somewhat uncontrolled manner.
Green Lantern: First Flight is similar to X² another 4th Dimension roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The difference between the two lies in the spinning or rotation of the vehicle. On Green Lantern: First Flight the rotation of the vehicle is controlled by the unequal gravitational pull on different sides of the rotational axis. This uncontrolled spinning results in a different ride experience every time.

DC SHOES: GYMKHANA 2.1, BLOCK vs DYRDEK
As seen on MTVs Rob Dyrdeks Fantasy Factory, Gymkhana 2.1 takes the epic cinematography and driving from DC Co-Founder and Rally Team Member Ken Block that youve come to expect from the Gymkhana videos and mixes in Rob Dyrdek in his comical and somewhat powerful miniature version of Blocks rally car. The two, who have worked together and been good friends since Dyrdek joined the DC skate team in 1995, decided to get the shifter car built and film the clip when Dyrdek made an appearance in the Gymkhana TWO video earlier this year. A custom mold was made to build the shifter car nearly identical to Kens Subaru WRX STI (except for the head-out-the-roof part). The team at Vermont SportsCar wrapped the shifter in the same graphics as Blocks competition rally car, and a custom fireproof, FIA certified driving suit just like Blocks was even made for Dyrdek. The Gymkhana 2.1 video features all the near run-overs, drifting, racing and shenanigans that occur when two unique individuals like Dyrdek and Block hit the tarmac in polar-opposite-sized whips.
